Newbill 1 #1 Posted March 16, 2021 I am in possession of a C-120 Special that appears to be original. How do I go about obtaining the correct parts list for the tractor as in every manual that I have seen there is no mention of this tractor. I have not gotten started on the restoration yet and I hope that I find the 12 HP Tecumseh engine has electronic ignition and not points. A correct electrical diagram would be great too. I hope that somebody out there is able to lead me in the right direction. Also, are the wheels of these tractors painted White, Cream, or What?? Any help would be appreciated greatly. JAinVA 4,623 #2 Posted March 16, 2021 (edited) The serial number for this unit will be on the left front of the hood stand . That is the part that supports the gas tank Edited March 16, 2021 by JAinVA
haydendavid380 759 #3 Posted March 16, 2021 (edited) I believe this will help. Electrical information is about 2/3 the way down. Edited March 16, 2021 by haydendavid380

That is the part that supports the gas tank If there is an engine other than a Kohler K series then it has been swapped into your 120. If it is K series Kohler then points The magneto system came on the later M series The C-120 Special was built with a Tecumseh 12 HP Engine. The identification decal says C-120 Special. I am just trying the correct information (parts list & electrical) that will work for this unit. I know WH did not build and put these tractors out there without a correct owners man. The set up is different that that of a C-120 gear unit and C-120 Automatic. Thanks
haydendavid380 759 #5 Posted March 16, 2021 That's not the ID label. It's a small metal tag. I believe the number is 1-0375 1

Lee1977 6,842 #7 Posted March 16, 2021 Look at the bottom of the list that haydendavid380 listed there are three models that they installed Tecumseh 12 HP engine on. 1-0495, 1-0357, and 1-0375.
Pullstart 63,118 #8 Posted March 16, 2021 What else was special about the tractor? Pictures would be great to see the decals

Pictures would be great to see the decals Looking at older threads about them, it sounds like there was a strike at Kohler which caused an engine shortage. They supplemented with Tecumsehs and made a new model, the "Special". A neat piece of history. 3
Newbill 1 #11 Posted March 16, 2021 In my research, the special was built over 2 years. 1974 Model # 1-0495-9 was actually a 12 Hydro with a Tecumseh HH-120. In 1975 2 Models were built using Tecumseh. Both Tractors were 8 speeds and to my knowledge no Automatics. 1 Model was the 1-0357 using the HH120-120180D and the 2nd was Model # 1-0375 using the HH120-120180E. I am sure that the WH parts and pieces were the same on the Kohler Engine Models - I just need and want an accurate wiring diagram for the Tecumseh production. My main collection is Massey and they were all built using Tecumseh. Thought that getting the C-120 Special would be a cool addition and it ain't green. Also have an original C-160 Auto that hope to also get to one day - Massey Ferg. is #

gcole 36 #15 Posted March 17, 2021 (edited) I also have a c-120 special! Mines no longer special as when I got it the techy was long gone so it’s Kohler powered now. Edited March 17, 2021 by gcole
