Oldcpecdr 255 #1 Posted March 15, 2021 (edited) I have an opportunity to buy a fair condition Wheel Horse Branded early 70's walk behind snowblower. Anybody have one ? Were they made by Wheel Horse or rebranded ? Thought it might be fun to have one in the fleet for the deck and other areas the tractor can't go. Any thoughts or advice ? Mike B Wheel Horse snowblowers have some interesting connections: They were originally REO snowblowers, made by the REO company. The same company that made the "REO Speedwagon" delivery truck in the 19-teens and 1920's.. and yes, the band is named after the truck! REO stands for "Ransom Eli Olds", who founded the Oldsmobile company and REO motor works.. Wheel Horse bought the REO line in 1963 (they were no longer making vehicles by then) and continued making the same snowblowers for a few more years re-badged for Wheel Horse. Stepney 2,325 #3 Posted March 15, 2021 Ah yes, the Trailblazer 7. The 5 had solid rubber wheels, the 7 was pneumatic. Parts are scarce, they came as both a friction drive or a manual gearbox. Pretty well made, similar to a vintage Ariens. If the price is right and the machine isn't beat up mechanically, it'll work nicely. Adding some rubber shoes to the second stage goes a long way. The 7hp Teccy isn't a powerhouse but does the job. They did start out as a REO design. I had a REO 18" walking single stage. REO had the Reo-Matic or something 24" which became the WH trailblazer 7.
