Our family rocking horse! Going to my grandson Henry!

 This week we will be traveling out east to Boston and Madison, New Jersey.   Going to connect with Craig (AMC Rules) along the way to deliver some tires.  But birthdays for twin granddaughters and big delivery for my grandson Henry!   The Ralph family rocking horse!

 

This rocking horse was made over 55 years ago and has been used by more than a dozen Ralph children and grandchildren!

 

 

The wood parts are from a pattern in an old Popular  Mechanics Magazine article and were made by my mother’s father John C. Fabian.  The metal parts were made by my father Clifton E. Ralph , who was a blacksmith.   The tail is from spun wool that my mother made especially for this horse!

 

it’s a classic piece of Americana for sure!

Great story and great horse. Something definitely to be treasured that has deep meaning and value to all associated with it. Nothing like holding something that ones ancestors made , held, and continues to serve the purpose for which it was so thoughtfully made.

Some enterprising woodworker/metalworker on here should take that idea and revise the horse a bit to resemble a head.  Add some color and sell them at the show.  Yes, I'll accept royalties for the idea.

And if that happens one should call it "The Lane" and also give him royalties. After all it started with him.
