mryanpilarski 24 #1 Posted March 14, 2021 I did the loctite bulletin, the coupler is locked solid to the shaft now. My question is, does this look right? Sure seems like a lot of flex.
oldlineman 1,485 #2 Posted March 14, 2021 Not an expert but to me looks like motor and pump not parallel maybe shift motor a little if there is any give. Someone with more knowledge will be along soon. Bob
pacer 3,174 #3 Posted March 14, 2021 The washers are a new thing for me, though I have never seen that drawing of it either. Ive been into several D's and have never ran across that.... It sure does make a 'twist' in it. Cant see what purpose they serve???
pfrederi 17,959 #4 Posted March 14, 2021 I think it was done to "preload" the assembly. if you look at worn out drive coupling only a portion of the splines are worn (pump) end. i think they were trying to push the coupling further on to the pump input shaft engaging more of the spline area. If you look at the pics the bend in the rubber is going to put pressure to keep the drive coupling pushed back. The impossible to find splines washer I thank was to keep the drive coupling from rubbing on the pimp mounting plate. For the original poster did you try the timing light to check engine pump alignment???
mryanpilarski 24 #5 Posted March 17, 2021 Not yet on the timing light. I will check it soon when i get a free moment to breathe. I do remember before we tore it down it had some flex in there. I just cant remember how much
