gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,095 #2 Posted March 12, 2021 Rewrote your model number 31-16OE01 This model uses the 700 Eaton transmission. Here is the operator manual and more in case you do not have them. I have no hydro experience.
JAinVA 4,620 #3 Posted March 12, 2021 (edited) I bought a tractor with the Eaton 700 transaxle some time back and you could not push or pull it because the rear tires wouldn't turn Quite by accident I pushed the motion control lever full forward and the tractor would roll. Give it a try. Edited March 13, 2021 by JAinVA
Ed Kennell 38,634 #4 Posted March 12, 2021 I only had one 700 and it would not roll. Do not ever tow or push with another machine. You could damage the hydro.

Handy Don 12,459 #6 Posted March 13, 2021 The 700 I ran was also stubborn about rolling. As noted, experiment with different positions of the motion control lever. With mine, mostly forward worked best for pushing in both directions but YMMV. Good luck.
grinchsr 634 #7 Posted March 13, 2021 When I bought mine it was not running so I used car dollies to move it around
953 nut 55,767 #9 Posted March 13, 2021 The service manual below may be helpful. Be sure the belt tensioner (part 49) is down and the motion control lever is forward when pushing. go very slowly.
Skibumpis 0 #10 Posted July 25, 2021 Exactly what I have been looking for as far as trying to move a locked Eaton 700 Very frustrating, now if I could only find out why it won't turnover!

If you post the model number, we can get the wiring diagram for your tractor and help you get it running.
Tuneup 1,433 #13 Posted July 31, 2021 Howdy Ski, My 516H is impossible to move with the belt engaged and difficult with it disengaged. You'll want to make sure that disengaged is actually so - stops rubbing on the pulley. If I have just run it, mowing or whatever, it pushes much easier. The Eaton is a bit worn and runs well on 15W-50.
