I got my wheel spacers today for the 876, so I could mount the rear tires and rims. I went ahead and put my Kohler 7HP on it for now. It has it's own gas tank.  I made myself a link, as best I could figure one out. Actually, I made 3 of them. Things went a lot smoother once I realized the pulley on the idler should be a flat pulley, not a V. It seems to operate and function as it should. I filled the trans with fluid,and it didn't leak. Then I actually started the motor. It goes forward, and backward, and stops. The parking brake works fine. I find it interesting, that this thing doesn't have an actual "brake". Unless there is something built into the trans, I am unaware of. I have it up on stands right now. I haven't actually tried it on the floor yet. My Massey is sitting right in front of it, and I didn't want any accidents.

I t I think I need a smaller, yet stronger spring. You can see the scratches it made already. I have a slightly larger idler pulley on it than stock. If I ever locate the OEM spring, and link, I think I can put the stock pulley on it. I honestly don't know if this is right or not, but it seems to work, regardless. Who knows, when I go to put the belt cover on, maybe none of it will work.

For the first time since I have owned it, the 876 moved on it's own power today. It's not done, but getting close.

No decals on it yet, but I do have them.My new saddle isn't here yet, so the present seat cover is custom fitted, courtesy of "Glad"I almost made a major boo boo in the wiring, but I caught myself before destroying anything. Of course the choke cable broke 3 minutes after I installed the dash. That will have to be replaced.I cut off the oil fill tube about 4". I have a 1" wooden dowel ground to a taper, and taped on for now. I'll have to figure out some type of dipstick. The hood would not clear the larger air filter, so It got the one from the K-181 #2. All wiring, and cables are temporary, as this is not the final engine for this tractor. I may need to adjust the cam selector some, unless reverse is suppose to be granny gear. It does not creep in neutral though, so maybe it's ok. Any suspicions I may have had about the trans are laid to rest. It performed perfectly, so far. That was after I remember to tighten the towing valve. Scared me for just a bit. It's a long ways from perfect, but I am happy with it. Now it's time for the inevitable.

the arm on the bottom of the spring you have... is attached to a parking pawl inside.  It’s very common that pawl is ground down or broke off from engaging the “parking brake” while in motion still.

It's not quite done, but it's close. I still have a few decals to put on, and I am waiting on my new saddle.Of all the tractors I have done, (only 4)  I would have to say this one was the most challenging. Trying to fabricate missing parts by guess work, takes me a long time. Then there was the leaky trans, which I caused, and the broken frame, so I had to tear it down completely. Then the generator problem, which is still a problem, but oh well. Like all my tractor rebuilds, it's not perfect by a long shot, but I think it's better than it was.

Is it a law that all Wheel Horse belts have to rattle inside the belt guard, or is it only me?

It was a pretty nice day today, so I decided to take the 876 on it's maiden voyage. All was going ok, until I got to the grass, and then it didn't want to go so good. The trans seemed to work fine when it was up on jack stands, now, not so much. I got to the street, went about 50', and decided I had better turn back. I knew if I went down the slope in my side yard, I would never be able to climb back up again. While I was driving through the grass again, I was just hoping I could make it over the slight bump, from grass to concrete driveway. I seemed to be slowing down. Then it hit me.The free wheeling valve ! WOW....what a difference that makes. This is the only hydro tractor I have that will pull the front wheels off the ground. Easily!  Should get my saddle, and super duper decal adhesive that Terry recommended by mid week, I hope.

My Raider has a rattle to it too, out of the 6 I have it's the only one that seems noisy to the point of being obvious.

Most of mine rattle at some point. Belt bouncing off the guard. On hydro's the idler pulley engagement levers and cross shafts will wear and rattle

The serial number tag, and the new key ring, are on the 876, so it must be done.Like all my builds, it's not perfect, but maybe I preserved for a few more years, so the next guy can make it perfect. I had the seat re-made, duplicating the original, as much as possible.

With one added bit of flair.

I got the generator back today, and it's working.

Drove it outside to take pics, and once again forgot about the trans valve.

I sure like the looks of those Genny motors.

You mentioned needing a smaller spring. I don't have the number in front of me but I got a brand new OEM spring last year for my 1075
