rmaynard 15,458 #1 Posted March 5, 2021 As I said in an earlier thread, I am going to be trying a product that I found on YouTube. Since chrome-plating regulations vary from state to state, with Maryland being one with extremely tough restrictions, I am l trying a spray chrome paint called Spaz Stix. The YouTube video looked promising, but you can't always trust what you see on the internet. My shipment arrived yesterday. One can of Mirror Chrome, and one clear coat. Here is my test project, a hood ornament from a 1974 B-80. Because it is aluminum, there is no rust, but a lot of pitting, scaling, and just plain ugly. First step is to try to smooth is out a bit. I trip to the wire wheel on the grinder, and various grades of sandpaper, resulted in something a little better, but still pretty ugly. Next step was to spray it with a primer/filler. Between coats I sanded it with 320/400/600/1000/2000 grit. Final primer coat yielded a nice base. Next step Mirror Chrome. To be continued... 10 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The stuff on that chrome apple is like 50 bucks for less than 50ml. Correction 37.99 for 15ml..i remembered incorrectly lol.
