Dozer blade to load dump cart? Is it possible?

Recommended Posts

What's the best way to use the dozer blade to load a dump cart with soil? Put the cart in a ditch? Build a loading ramp?

Thanks!

I would suggest the ram too. if you plan to use it several times it may be worthwhile to build a very sturdy ramp with a bit of overhang so the cart can be pulled right up close.

Hand the wife a shovel is the easiest way!

Ramp would probably be best as it might be difficult to pull it out of a ditch

Wish I had a wife... I need someone to do my laundry, too.  :P

Take them to the laundry!  Get a washing machine instead!  Or do it by hand!  Or just wear them dirty!

I kinda like the wife and shovel idea, but ONLY if a helmet is worn.

A less harmful way...  1) using a 1/2-5/8 sheet of 4x8 plywood, drill two 'drag holes' about 6" in from one end for a chain. 2)With dozer blade, push dirt pile onto plywood sheet. 3)drag said plywood with dirt to dump location 4)Push dirt off of plywood.

I've done this many times and works well using my C-160 Auto and weights.

Works with a tarp during leaf season, why not horse poop?  Good idea!

Yep, I’m bringing home the bacon AND frying it up in a pan.
When you’ve got a Wheel Horse, who needs a man!    💅💃🏻🚜

How much weight do you think it’s safe to drag?

If you'll pardon the pun, that's a loaded question.

With these tractors the amount that you can pull far exceeds the amount that you can SAFELY STOP.

IF YOUR LAND IS FLAT and all you're trying to do is literally pull around a pile of poo or dirt on a piece of plywood I think your point of overload is going to be discovered when you don't have traction. I imagine it will be quite a bit.

Actual rating? Maybe 200, 300 lb. But that's with a wheeled trailer.

Forgive my amateurish tinkering, but I just love problem solving.
What about something like this?
Bed would be 6’x4’ with it being wider than long for easy loading.
The angled runners would give an extra bit of tilt for dumping.
Back tailgate for pushing stuff in with the dozer blade.
Now, to figure out a way to lift the hitch end. How far does the Brinly lift? Maybe a hoist? Estimate I’ll need 30-40” of lift to get to 60 degree dump angle.

You could do like I did with my orange dumping trailer...

This is a 10 cubic foot trailer. I'll also be doing this modification to another trailer that is larger this coming spring or summer. That one is a 17 cube

Last time I was on a WH and wanted to push dirt into something I parked my CUT with 6ft bucket where needed.  BUT, I think you are on to something BUT you will need the sled held there and then what will you do when you get to where you want to unload?

Still need a lift/dump means.  Doable for sure.

I am thinking as you push the dirt, poo, what ever in the trailer is going to try to run away from you.  You would have to have it locked down pretty good.

If your hitch attaches underneath the box mid way-ish, as you back up you could make it lift and dump...

Old Wheel Horse trailers acted this way, with a clear along the back edge to help grab the ground.

I found this picture on Google...

Yeah, that’s a good point. 🤔
