Rick 55 BB 24 #1 Posted March 3, 2021 I'm trying to find out more info on the drive pulley on my blower as i read through the snow blower thread I didn't see any place where to get a 5 1/2 inch replacement pulley new or used other than parts tree and I'm not paying 98 dollars for it , I did see where some guy's went down to a 5 inch and seem to be ok with it . I have looked around on the internet but couldn't find a 5 1/2 , 3/4 id anywhere . Mine was welded on by the PO and it's no where straight and shakes like crazy , I got through this winter with it but want to fix it before i put it away . Rick 55 BB 24 #7 Posted March 4, 2021 Well now , i had no idea there were so many options out there , I see Ed Kennell is using a 5 inch pulley , does your blower bog down compared to running the 5 " pully ? I experienced less clogging with the auger turning slightly faster. The blower never bogged down the 20HP Onan. In my experience with single stage blowers, the key is to be able to vary the ground speed to keep the blower housing full of snow. To do this effectively IMO, you must have a hydro transmission. Ed's logic applies to 2-stagers as well, I think. My neighbor has a pricy Honda tracked walk-behind (Heated hand grips! Sheesh!) and he was complaining that it frequently jams. My plug-simple Ariens rarely does. I watched him and realized he was going too slow! I encouraged him to go faster to keep the machine loaded up and working hard and it worked, especially where there was a mix of dry snow with wet or slushy stuff. I'm always in a hurry so I always push my machine until it just before it starts moving snow aside instead of up and out! 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Thank you for this info , I too have a 520 H that the blower is on so I am going with a 5 inch pulley as it's available at tsc and they also have the idler sprocket and drive sprocket and # 40 roller chain all of it's wore out on mine so for around $50.oo Thanks again 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
