Proper length of 1267 and/or Charger throttle cable?

Recommended Posts

ebinmaine

I ordered a throttle cable for the Charger 12 which is the push pull type same as on a 1257 or 1267.

The one I got is several inches too short.

What is the CORRECT LENGTH and where do I go about getting a couple?

THANKS!

Hhhmmm...

Can’t help with the measurements, but you could drill some holes, relocate the engine back a few inches, change pulleys and belts, etc... seems that’s the approach that many previous owners use to “fix” stuff...

That's odd. Every one that I have ever bought had to be cut down.

Agreed.

I got one for another push/pull 12 horse that was quite long.

Looks like S290148 right below ROT9135 would be the choke cable looking for? #102119 and #102118

Awesome. Thanks Steve.

Now that one lists a 48" housing. That would work...

If you think they seem right I might just order a set here. Let me know thoughts.

Be happy to.

I won't be able to check until tomorrow evening though.

If you order... Get at least 2 or 3 of each please.

I'll buy em from you and split the freight.

The web page is tough. I've bought from them as well as multiple other folks here.

Had good luck so far.

@Achto I was mistaken about the cable.

It's the CHOKE cable that's too short.

It doesn't wrap under the engine.

Is it supposed to?

It should go over the battery, slide through between the block and the aluminum bearing plate and then up to the choke. It is usually a tight fit between the block and bearing plate. I have one tractor that I had to shave some of the rubber casing off to gain clearance. Can't seem to find a picture. I'll try to remember when I get home today.

Same here. Most are way too long.BTW,after all these years fooling with throttle and choke cables on numerous equipment,I finally bought a pair of z-bend pliers to put that neat little bend on the end.So much easier than trying to bend the cable with 2 pairs of needle nose pliers. And,a perfect bend.
