I always said a man could make anything, given time, material and resources.......I probably would have just got an other plastic one and worked on wheel horses the rest of the day!

When you learn the gear is N/A and your opener ends up at the landfill it becomes my treasure.

That is some impressive work!  Did he make two casts of the same piece and 1 worked?  The first one was missing most the teeth.

The first plaster after pouring the metal it was obvious he hadn't done a complete wax burn out and the gas formed during combustion created internal pressures. The second plaster mold spent some time in the furnace.
