Throttle Plate Screws

Recommended Posts

Achto

I'm doing some major surgery on a K model Kohler carb. In the process I managed to break a couple of screws for the throttle & choke plate.:( I forgot to bring one of them to work with me :eusa-doh:& would like to grab some new ones on the way home.

Just wondering if anyone knew what size they should be??

Thanks

AMC RULES

Closest I found were 4-40, used blue Loctite, and retapped the holes.

I've ordered them from KL Jack. Regular hardware stores don't have them around here.

The local Ace has an assortment of gun hardware. I'll check to see if they have any thing in a 3-48.

If not I will grab some 4-40's, @AMC RULES suggestion would be a good route also.

Thanks guys!!

I'm pretty sure the majority of the carbs are 4-40. A few have the 3-48's

ok I was wrong. 3-48 X 1/4" for stock Kohler shafts  on Carter and Kohler  # 26,28 & 30 carbs. 4-40 used on Walboro and can be used on Kolher carbs if the 3-48 strips out and you need to go over size.

Hey Dan.

Make sure you do NOT get them in an Allen head. Get phillips head or even flat if you have to.  I wasn't super happy with the ability to tighten Allen heads.

Lucky you to get a shot, it's like try to strike gold to be able to get an appointment.  All in due time I suppose.

I re tapped mine at M 2.5 and used brass screws with loctite.

Usual practice is to peen over the ends to stop them vibrating loose.
