I have 1/2 of a 24 x 24 garage to clean, and my entire new 18 x 20 pole shed to organize. I just loaded everything inside before winter hit. I need more than a 1 yard dumpster.

It’s time to clean.  Close to 40 degrees F today and the 1 yard dumpster is (was) empty...  Since I can’t find my 10 mm socket, among other things... it’s a great day to clean up shop!

If you would have started this project a year ago, you'd be a quarter of the way done by now! Congrats! :)

I am trying a new thing, everyday that I go to the shop I try to remove / organize at least one thing.

All I have accomplished is hiding things from myself!

Not kind of working.

When I met my wife she had been living with her Brother and Father. Father had recently died and her brother was moving in with his girlfriend. Both of these guys are/were hoarders. Father fixed TV's and had tons of TV tubes and assorted junk. Brother was into cars. They had one of those little metal sheds stuffed full and I got the clean up job because I wanted to store a mower and snowblower there since I was going to take care of the place.

I had a 6x10 trailer. Made 3 trips to the landfill. I counted over 200 semi full cans of WD-40 that didn't spray any more! When her Mother died we cleaned out her house. I found a cabinet where her brother stored used car parts. About 10 sets of used sparkplugs for cars in the 60's along with used distributor caps wire sets , empty air filter boxes you name it. He still does this. He's got a used car lot and 1 bay in the shop is just junk. The only time he throws anything away is when he has to junk a car. He fills the inside with trash and scraps the car.

I have been stepping over this Allison transmission since last fall.  I dragged it and some 4L60E parts onto a pallet for storage.  It’s really good to be able to walk in here!

I cleaned out/up my shop after I bought the blast cabinet and the lift

Couldn't find stuff for about a month and a half:wacko:

Made up my mind not to do that again:D

Getting somewhere!  I have a 7’ workbench, just needs the legs welded on (have them).  It could hold my short drill presses, grinder, etc!  Maybe a VICE in my shop!  Been missing one for 4 years!

With chickens and cats staying out of the snow, put came decon for a while.  Found the big fat fat tie dead in the middle of this nest behind my straw bale for the chickens.

Really making progress!  My strongest drill, the far Delta, was given to me because the chuck teeth are ruined.  I used a ball joint pick,e fork to pop it off and will look for a suitable replacement.  I might have one in the top of one of these boxes from my Tool and Die days!

There is something about moving a tool from where it has always been. It takes revenge and hides itself from you. Just like when you lay it on the work bench a moment ago and now can't find it.:)

The weather wasn’t ideal for me to hunt a raccoon tonight, so back to spring cleaning.  I’m really making improvements!

I took @Shynon’s tool room idea a bit and boxed the area in with the tire machine.  Tool boxes were moved against the wall to open up the walkway through to the storage building!  Less and less clutter, and luckily the dumpster was emptied today!  Time to fill it up again!

Found some signs.  Hung them up.  That’ll do for the night.

I have plans for that too, hopefully!  The tall box, I can’t even see into the top, even if it was clean!  There’s a 4x8 pegboard on the wall and I’d like to hang a couple tools up to declutter my boxes.

I built some long saw horses that can stagger and fit under the drill bench.  They will help me for an upcoming project.  Yeah.  I have a helper today.

I’m still pushing hard to clean my shop.  Long way to go, but still huge differences and spaces opening up!  Organizing and taking care of stuff is a very challenging thing for me and I know it.... but I’m trying!

The area where Rylee’s RJ is sitting, I’d like to set up a work bench for the project with her tools and all.
