Stepney 2,325 #5 Posted February 22, 2021 What sort of Case are we talking about here?? There's a local .. 'metal yard' let's call it, planning to break up a small fleet of 30-50's era Case tractors not far from me. May be able to get some parts off them? Worth a shot anyway. 2
Gregor 4,846 #6 Posted February 22, 2021 Those videos are amazing. To do that here would probably require $100.000.00 in equipment, and about a month. 1

Maxwell-8 4,275 #8 Posted February 22, 2021 i needed a new BS starter, price 160$, that was 4 time the value of the engine, so i just replaced the bushings and soldered some connections up. After the rebuild the starter lasted longer then the engine. 1

Yes the field coils are burnt and its just a Prestolite starter but have broke two impact bits trying to loosen the screws that hold the four core shoes in place. Heating them does not help. The closest rebuild shop to me is a two hour return trip and its not a while you wait service. It's an old Case 300 tractor that i picked up to run a hammer mill that I use to feed light copper wire into the remove the insulation, the copper comes out as fine chops and is easy to separate from the chaff. I take the copper chops to the farm then compress them into briquettes on their 100 ton press. Each electric range, dryer and washing machine will have about 5 pounds of copper then there's long power cords from vacuum cleaners and Xmas lights and no one other than me bothers with light copper. As a bonus those rheostats from electric ranges, timers from washing machines and dryers and hot water tanks all have small contacts inside with a silver button. The hammer mill makes short work of these. I have a Wisconsin VH4D that might replace the tractor.
DennisThornton 4,769 #10 Posted February 22, 2021 Most unusual that heat doesn't help. Aluminum involved? My worst enemy?
dodge78 90 #11 Posted February 22, 2021 Get a Shake and Break. Heat it up then spray with PB blaster and the Shake and break. If that does not work I am out of ideas.
