Anyone know anything about spindle cups?

The Tuul Crib

Working on the mower deck for my charger 10 and got to this point ready to put the seals in. I decided to make sure everything fits well before I put the seals in. Then I ran into this weird issue. On the bottom side of the hub where the blade goes the spindle cup only fits good One Direction better than the other but it's upside down!

Probably just distorted or marred imperceptibly. Mine are always quite tight, a block of wood and a drift gets them in order.

They fit perfectly upside down but then when you go to put them on in the correct direction they don't fit! I even tried some filing still they fit perfectly backwards!

funny thing is doesn't look like the shaft can be reversed because of the washer on one end!

Yes, the shaft only goes one way as I recall.. Hm. Throw the shaft in a freezer and the collar in the oven??

If you look closely at the first picture the reason comes to light. The driver (blade clutch or whatever) has been "mushroomed" (collapsed) by the shaft shoulders

from use? impact wrench? overtightening? or whatever. This could be corrected a couple ways, but I tap them down, and use a good  bolt (grade 8) bottomed in

the threads and drive the spindle shaft out while holding the blade adapter in a vise.

These only go on one way and that's upside down tried it at both ends of the shaft the pulley works at the other end but this one likes to fit on backwards on either end of the shaft. The first picture is on backwards and it drops in place wanna flip it over in the correct position it doesn't go past the very top.

So I've noticed there are two part numbers for the spindle cups. 8200 or 3716.

I have seen this chart and l do

understand it but what l dont get is why these fit on backwards easily! Looks

like they have a set of stops that is suppose to be the side that slips on first.

What he said. The mushroom is just enough to create distortion on that one side.
