Jeff-C175 7,199 #28 Posted February 21, 2021 I have a piece of 9 wire wrapped around the auger drive on my machine. I only release it when starting it. I still have all my appendages. My neighbor noticed it and was horrified.

In fact, if I push down the handle, the wire slides forward by itself so 'emergency' releases are quick and easy. The only emergency I've had is when I hit a neighbor's landscaping rock and the augers stopped by themselves when the shear pin did it's job.
