DennisThornton 4,769 #1 Posted February 18, 2021 (edited) My C-85 is getting the front roller chains today. Wonder if they could steer this? No roller chain, no wheel weights front or rear! I don't see enough clearance to angle the front very much. Maybe from the south to deal with that rare 2" snow storm! All the pics I've found... If it’s light and fluffy I bet you could get away with a couple inches... for a while... but as it builds up I think you will get a fare amount of side pressure that turns / skids the front end towards the wing... The wing will take double the volume of the front blade- all front blade snow plus all wing snow... that’s a lot of pressure... I've got 25 psi now and they won't stay on. Now, the tires are real old and actually need replacing. I'm going to order new ones but it would be nice to utilize this idea now. But I suppose for clearing off sidewalks one pass is enough. I'm still surprised that there's no wheel weights. They will have more chance to slide off when steering hard left or right of course.I actually left most of the air out when I installed mine then aired them up. DennisThornton 4,769 #13 Posted February 18, 2021 I just ordered these. I've always thought ags on the front were just for show but I've read a ton here today that turned backwards they do help. Mine had even more of a groove do to the chain than yours. A few minutes later it I saw it had move inwards then I noticed it hanging. Your tires look better than mine. I've got tread but dry rotted. Well, I've got two ideas, more pressure or grind a slight groove in the treads. Worked so good I'm not giving up on the roller chains! 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I don't know how tall the center rib is compared to the grooves next to it. DennisThornton 4,769 #24 Posted February 19, 2021 I thought about V-61s and two chains. But I ordered ags. I'd hate to blow up what I have before the new ones come in. I've used up all that I have in the "salvage yard" so I'd have to rob a roller or runner. I might try 30 psi tomorrow... Of course now the chains won't fit as is...
