953 nut 55,099 #5 Posted February 18, 2021 My wife didn't like listening to Rush Limbaugh at first because he was so forceful in his delivery. Once she got over that and concentrated on the content of his message she began to realize that being the lone conservative voice in a liberal sea of voices required him to be a bit over the top. Rush Limbaugh was the founding father of conservative talk radio and I feel we all have benefited from his efforts. We will miss you Rush! 8
rmaynard 15,428 #6 Posted February 18, 2021 I was sitting in a parking lot waiting to get my vaccination when I heard about his passing. Though it was not a shock, it was still sad and like losing a close friend. After I finished up getting my shot, I drove to the only remaining Gino's Restaurant (Gino Marchetti, Baltimore Colts 1953-1966) and as I was driving, I passed the parking lot where I was sitting, eating my lunch in 1989 and first heard Rush on the radio. I have listened to him every day (if possible) since. I will really miss him. RIP RUSH 9 1

nylyon-(Admin) 7,269 #8 Posted February 18, 2021 Figures like Rush are controversial and their message is highly politically charged. Please don't turn this thread into a political discussion / argument, our no politics rule applies to this post as well. 2

Bill D 1,910 #15 Posted February 18, 2021 Whether you loved him or hated him, the last 30 years of our country's history would have been different without him. Few people change history, he was one of them. RIP.
lynnmor 7,302 #16 Posted February 18, 2021 I have ceiling speakers in each room of my shop, Rush was always on noon to 3. I hated it when I fired up the CNC mill and it blew away all AM reception, but for awhile Rush was on a FM station. I will miss him.

I have been listening to him since 1992 when my former father-in-law turned me on to him. If you listened, you know what kind of genuine person he was. Sadly the human waste that is the media couldn't resist taking snippets out of context to make him look bad after his death. Their time will come too. He was honest about an opioid addiction he went through as the result of initially prescribed pain meds. He didn't lie about it. I know few people today that I suspect are addicted to pain meds, but just keep doing them. He was the one person I knew where I could get the straight scoop (good or bad) with all the craziness in the world. He personally made me feel better in 2020 every day regardless of the situation.
