But I don't need a second WH

Recommended Posts

echris

This has been for sale for a few weeks. "Hasn't run in a few years, includes deck and snow plow."

It's looks ridiculously clean, and doesn't look rattle-canned, all original. It has a newer RD deck too. You can see the reinforcing bar at the front of the deck which I believe was only on newer models.

Seat is shot and steering wheel looks bent.

It's a 12HP, so a C-121?

$400. I'd be an idiot not to get it.

They are like potato chips..

Almost surely repainted however, those decals are some years newer than the body itself. C120 is a good guess. C-121 has a wider dash tower, and a rear gas tank.

Deck alone, if solid, is worth half or more of the asking price.

You've got to be right about the paint. It just looks too clean for it's age.

Ah, so the 121 has a fuel pump.  :D

Thanks!

They all have fuel pumps, even if the tank is under the hood. Just how WH did things. Even my little 854 round hood had a vacuum pump.

I thought the earlier Koehler's were gravity feed, hence the front tank?

I have an old Cub with a K-series, pretty sure there's no fuel pump on it.

EDIT: Do they all have the pump under the carb? Haven't worked on an older one in years.

That would be correct. For a Cub anyway. The tank was right over the carb. WH just still opted for a fuel pump. A low tank of fuel even at the level of the engine head could make for hard going on a steep hill.

Sears Suburban tractors did it the same way.

Forward tilt seat and no hood ornament.

If original it should be a 76 or 77 C120.

Good looking machine that would clean up very well.

At that price you can't lose just on parts resale alone.

Or parts for another Horse you may already have or plan to own some day.Looks like that tractor should be at your house already.

All this nonsense about not needing a second WH... first stage in most any problems is denial.  Second is acceptance I think.  Go get it!  :happy-bouncyred:

Any history on it?        Why hasn't it been run, what may have been wrong when it was parked?     When you go look at it bring along some jumper cables and a can of carburetor spray to see if the engine has compression and may start.

Though it looks clean and will shine like new with a little TLC my feeling is a non-running :wh: is worth about $ 200.     If the deck and snow plow are things you need/want then the $ 400 asking price is about right.

Automatic, very nice! I wouldn't hesitate and the accessories are worth the price around here. Check that the engine is loose and hand over the fifties. You can't have just one.

See if the owner will take $300.  I get a little nervous seeing a rear discharge deck on a hydro.  The transmission cooling fins will clog with clippings causing the trans to overheat.  Bill

There's very little info in the ad. I haven't called yet. Work/kids stuff keeping me busy.

Great tips guys. Thanks!

Funny thing, I had considered a plow when I got the 310 last year, but remembered dragging them around the shop as a kid, taking up too much space.
Now with all the snow this year in NY, even on a 310, the plow sounds kinda nice.
Better on a 120 with a hydro though. ;)

@echris, ever find a home for that Cub?  If not fix it up and plow with it.

I don't need a second WH

What could that mean?

I've never seen nor heard that combination of words?

How would one pronounce that?

If it wasn't 3/4s the way across the state, I'd be hard pressed not to have already been getting a hold of this guy, and checking out this :wh: doesn't hurt to look :teasing-poke:and at that price, it's pretty fair considering the plow and the deck comes with it, plus the tractor.  Of course always try to negotiate.  :ychain:

Of course you need it, otherwise you wouldn't have been looking.  Trust your subconscious, eventually it will let you know the reason why you need it!

Life would be dull if we only obtained what we needed. I only need one gun, but I have many, not sure how many. I bought a new 520 in 1989 ,that's all I would need, I have ten now now and still looking. He who dies with the most wheel horse tractors wins. Better jump on that bad boy, many others out there like me and they aren't making any more.
