artietube 12 #28 Posted February 21, 2021 Alright, got the new belt on. Seems extra tight... Bought belt# 102743 as per the manual. Maybe it needs to stretch out a bit... Haven't started it yet as I need to figure out the chute cable. Only goes halfway to the right. I appreciate everyone's help immensely.
pfrederi 17,676 #29 Posted February 21, 2021 (edited) That is too tight and will never wear down to fit. The tractor your blower was designed for a B-80/100 were made in a couple versions I believe (don't have any myself) difference in frame length?? That is a 67" belt. For my blower on a long frame tractor like yours belt is #7950 which is what I run 69" . You might go to Tractor supply get a 69 inch belt. Keep the sleeve clean take back if it isn't right Edited February 21, 2021 by pfrederi
artietube 12 #30 Posted February 21, 2021 I was afraid there might be some differences based on age. Oh well. Looks like I get to replace it twice. Thanks for the info.

peter lena 8,583 #32 Posted February 22, 2021 artietube, your chute adjustment is something you have work with as you replace it , typically its confusing , but i used this method years ago , http://www.wheelhorse.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5904, also replaced the cable clamps at chute base with electrical lugs , drilled out original pop rivet replaced with bolt and back to back electrical lugs , much stronger and easier control cable movement, pete
peter lena 8,583 #33 Posted February 22, 2021 artie, this is the type electrical lug that i use on my chute cable connection , drill out the original pop rivet that connects the old type that are there , use a 1/4 " bolt with elastic nut and washers to hold both lugs at same hole , very solid and easy to work with ,https://www.zoro.com/blackburn-mechanical-conn-lug-10-to-14-awg-1-cond-adr11/i/G1325046/feature-product?utm_source=google&utm_medium=surfaces&utm_campaign=shopping feed&utm_content=free google shopping clicks&gclid=CjwKCAiAyc2BBhAaEiwA44-wW5WIA6xVzl-A42pFtQTmL0YNiM9EVMs4dlgzB_yzTy84uvi06vSURRoCaD4QAvD_BwE , your local h/w store has these , lubricate chute base , pete
artietube 12 #34 Posted February 25, 2021 Peter, Thanks a bunch for the info. Surprisingly I was able to readjust the chute cable and it's working now. It's old though so I'll take your advice and change a few things when I get brave enough to replace the cable. I took the the advice of pfrederi and bought a 69" belt at Tractor Supply. I'm confident that'll do the trick. I'll have daylight time to change it this weekend and will post a pic. As always, thanks a ton! Without this forum I'd still be fumbling.
artietube 12 #35 Posted March 1, 2021 Hi all, Finally got the new 69" belt installed (properly) yesterday. What a difference! Not only was it easier to install but but it didn't bog down so much when I cut into the existing snow bank. Of course, this weeks weather is very mild but should it snow again I'll have the opportunity to give it a workout. Thanks again to all. I literally wouldn't have been able to do this without everyone's input. Greg
