What's the craziest thing you've pulled out of your motor?

You win the prize @ranger.... if there is one.... bet the look on your friends face when he saw the sandbag or  the guy with the wood piston was priceless! :)

These occurred in the 80s, both bought at a local cattle market, this market also had a car auction and a “junk” auction on the same day.  ( Bury St Edmonds, Suffolk) for those in the UK. Any USAF service personnel posted to the UK would also know the place, it’s just up the road from the two main airbases. Buying anything from there was a bit of a gamble, so most items sold only made a few £s, If something you had bought actually worked when you got it home, you thought it was your birthday!! If not, and you only paid the price of a coffee, it was no great loss. (a bit like buying anything secondhand really I suppose ).

“make the weight feel right”!!

I worked at a building supply as a youth.  A lady came in to return a 5 gallon pail of paint.  I went around the counter to pick up the bucket and carry it to the back.  When I lifted it, the weight shifted.  There were BRICKS in the empty of paint bucket!  Why didn't she just fill it with water I wonder?  Maybe she was hoping to dispose of the bricks ?

Nuclear waste bricks cost a LOT to dispose of!

A friend worked at Lowe's and refunded a window AC.  After the customer left she realized she had bought back a box of bricks.

I'd love to see the face and hear the tale if either of those returns were opened before the customers left!

Handy Don

Guy tried to scam the jungle site by substituting junk in over $100k of returns a year or so ago. Stuff sat on shelves at the return processing center for a while due to low staffing so he thought he was getting away with it. By the time he didn't, the amount involved yielded serious problems with the law.

Big hammah would clarify that.

I'm going with either sabotage or some kid being "helpful".

Wow.

Oh darn.

Is there any way that rock could fit down the throat of the carb?   i.e. pushed in there with the carb mounted?  That's some kinda puzzlement!

Yeah, definitely not possible. It had to be put in there deliberately.

:confusion-confused:             You know those little pearls that accumulate in the float bowl of the carb. when you use gas with ethanol, perhaps this is the world's biggest ethanol pearl.                         :ROTF:

Is that a real thing? I've never heard of that. We have 10 percent ethanol in our gas around here but I've never seen such a thing in any carbs that I've cleaned, not that I make a habit of cleaning carbs a lot.

It is. Ethanol is horrific stuff.

I've seen the pearls, gum, gunk, even had one carb bowl that was literally stuffed with the stuff that ethanol dissolves into.

BOB ELLISON

Ive never found anything like that but I had a flat tire and it had a 9/16x1/2 open end wrench sticking in it. And I was bass fishing with my now brother in law 50 years ago and he caught a large month bass and in its mouth it had a very large chicken leg bone down in it stomach.

I pulled it out and it was 6 or 7 inch long.

@Too much red you could always photo shop it out to see if that helps. haha

I believe  the image has been photo shopped , he has striped the image of any identifiable meta data.

Stripped meta data doesn't mean much. If i crop and resave a photo in my phones stock photo app it strips the meta data.

I didn't see any issues in the sniff test or the metadata.  I knew the member took the photo and he wouldn't have faked it.  The harsh shadow on the rock looked odd to me but that can happen if the light is just right.  Genuine to me!

However!  I was quite pleased to find out about www.fotoforensics.com!  And I've used it a few times since then.

Found a pair of “Mole” grips on a flexi brake pipe once. It was on a small road sweeper the company I worked for had loaned to a customer. My colleague in our workshop said, “I wondered what had happened to them”!!!
