Glad to hear that didn't turn into a multi day highly labor intensive ordeal.

Occasions like that are why I keep our own "parts department" here.

I try to have all the common stuff on hand. Also handy when we're working on a project and realize we need a whoozitt or thingamajig.... Hey look we have that!

Last spring I was about to roll my GT-1848 out for the first run of the year, gave the front wheel a little kick to see how the pressure was .. and the spindle broke right then and there .. in the corner of the shed.

Robbed a 1968 Charger spindle funny enough, fit perfectly.

I used the front axle out of a parts 68 Commando for the worn-out one on the 76 C-160. Just happened to be the same part number. Got to love :wh: for the swap ability.

My Black Hood is saddened by this turn of affairs for its distant cousin but would expect nothing less from the breed...

He offers a toast to the gallantry and chivalry of the noble beast...

Love the Black Hoods!

Also keeps you from paying $6-10 shipping on a $5-10 part....like I frequently have to do 🤡

Yessir.

When I do an order for many things I'll get extras of something else so I don't pay freight.

I guess that the old black hood just became the resident donor tractor. I am glad now I never got rid of it.

That's the very reason I have so many tractors and hardly ever part with any.Funny......just last week some people here were refering to me as a hoarderHow things change in a week.

Don’t you just hate it when the front wheel falls off? The spindle was worn and the C clip snap ring popped off, so out to the parts tractor I went. This was about five years ago.

Doesn't take many new parts to exceed the cost of an old complete tractor.  If you are using a 50 year old ride you are going to need some parts sometime.

The more the merrier, I've had the same thing thing happen.  Just went down to the boneyard with a jack, a block and some snap ring pliers.

Realized when I changed spindle from the Black hood to the Electro how much easier it was to deal with the Black hood's spindle since it uses a cotter pin rather than the snap ring. Same for removing wheel a cotter pin rather that a bolt. Used hitch pins on them now so removal is quick and easy without any tools needed.
