Wheelhorse#1 1,698 #1 Posted February 14, 2021 Anyone know of a good source for these bearings ? seems most I’m finding are China made ,cheap quality. thanks
peter lena 8,720 #2 Posted February 14, 2021 wheelhorse#1, do you have the bearing out ? just verifying the bearing # is the most important thing , along with bearing side seal type , if that is the very common 6203 ( 3/4" ) common wide rubber grease seals , you could be in luck , Chinese bearings are very common , its the generic grease that's the issue. having done this to all my bearings , pocket screwdriver , carefully remove wide rubber seal , swipe out all the grease you can , replace with hi temp lucas grease , rated at 550 temp , red and tacky or heavy duty grease, carefully push seal back on bearing , no failures , no noise , no problems , terrifying to a purest , but why not correct a bearing that will fail ? just my own experience , no offence to anyone , think its a no brainer , pete
Wheelhorse#1 1,698 #3 Posted February 14, 2021 (edited) Pete Thanks The only number stamped on it is 5975 and Japan. Just about all the pulleys seem to have the same one as in the pic. If you zoom in on that pic it’s stamped ,upper right hand side. They don’t seem too worn just a couple of them are noisy. Ill try to pull that seal out. However it’s made of a thin metal not rubber, so didn’t think it would go back on flat but I’ll give a shot and see if I can re pack them. I believe these are original bearings.Japan actually made quality unlike China. thanks for the advice Edited February 14, 2021 by Wheelhorse#
peter lena 8,720 #4 Posted February 14, 2021 you might check on a current picture of that bearing, if its available with the wider rubber seal , it makes a lubrication very easy , those tin seals are tough to shape back in ,as opposed to the rubber seal , virtual guarantee those noisy bearings are lubrication failure. good luck with your search, pete
peter lena 8,720 #5 Posted February 14, 2021 wheelhorse#1, just snoopin around found this ,https://www.google.com/search?sa=N&sxsrf=ALeKk012GRR9BHVbNWgZJeWqHTOYfy9RhA:1613332784739&source=univ&tbm=isch&q=5975+bearing&ved=2ahUKEwjEsKf8lOruAhVMh-AKHWNZBPI4ChCMmQR6BAgOEAE&biw=1024&bih=625 pete
peter lena 8,720 #6 Posted February 15, 2021 wheelhorse#1, if you notice on the above site, all of the 5975 bearings have the perfect wide rubber side seals , carefully remove seals wipe grease out out , and repack with hi temp grease , replace seals , pretty simple , and no more bearing noise or failure , pete
