Original Cabs install on 520H

Recommended Posts

Red-Bovine

Received our winter cab from Original Cabs yesterday. Only took a couple days to get it. Everything arrived safe and sound. We opted for the glass windshield and electric wiper. Very easy install and no holes needed to be drilled in the tractor. Only two holes needed in roof for the wiper motor. Rich is one happy camper with his new warmer and less drafty snow removal environment. We have relegated the Wheel Horse to just snow blowing so that makes it easy for us not to convert it to summer duties. We have another tractor for that. We have the foot control for the hydro drive and it posed no issue in installing the cab. Very well made unit and worth having. Here are some photos of the install.

Needed to lower the chute control so we drilled a hole below the original. This allowed us to place the rod bracket lower for the cab material to properly snap in place.

Yep, you reached that age where you knew you needed a cab.    Nice rig.     Maybe add a heat houser of that rear cylinder and stay dry and warm.    :handgestures-thumbupright:

WHX??

You will not  be sorry you went with the glass front and wiper.

Funny you did not have the inside the cab support for the chute rod. I was all set to make the support out of 3/4 conduit as the deuce I got was missing more than a few pieces  but ther was a tab on the inside of the cab for the rod. Looks like it worked out for you.

Ed and I ventilated the belt guard then directed some engine heat up into the cab. Not sure how that would work with your Honda repo tho.

I would go snap some pics but too cold out! :occasion-snowman:

Some cab lights next!

Now you know what I meant about the heel reverse on the pedal kit just clearing the support. Get yourself a wheel spinner too... you will not regret that.

Rich says it's not as nice as the Lincoln but then the Lincoln doesn't clear the driveway LOL We did get the brackets for the chute rod and did use the one for the 520H. Problem was the angle from the chute to the rod brace was too steep causing the rod to be too high and interfered with the snap on the front cover. So we flattened the brace and drilled a hole a little lower so we could attach the bracket below where the snap was located. Rich says he is getting some heat off the Honda engine.

Handy Don

So is there a version with air conditioning? That'd solve the mount/unmount problem right? And you could mow in the rain, too!

You just have to have two. One for snow removal and one for mowing and yard work. :D

I used to have a cab. Loved it at night. Stayed warm enough. But during the bright 🌞 days that always seem to follow a storm, I couldn't see a thing with the 🌞 reflecting off the snow. Dark glasses didn't help. I'm mostly blind in my right eye anyway. Just couldn't make a cab work.

I just made a small link/spacer for my chute rotation handle...

It was a challenge getting in and out of mine. Other reason why I don't have one anymore.

Rich says it is a little harder to get in and out of but but no big deal. He thought if you open both doors it might be easier also you need to duck a little. But that's a little like going from a convertible with the top down to a coupe. At 25 below with chill factor yesterday, Rich definitely liked the cab.

I like the offset bracket for the chute control and will try that.

The beauty of this is the 270° arc of adjustability.
