Maxwell-8 4,275 #1 Posted February 11, 2021 I have this sickle mower. (It has a very special engine as it seems to have 2 shafts coming out it. One vertical and one horizontal.) It ain't running at the moment. The bar is belt driven so maybe a good candidate for adapting it to fit the front attach a matic system. I think it would have it's benefits over a regular decks. What you think?

8ntruck 6,991 #4 Posted February 11, 2021 @pullstart has been messing with such an adaptation. He will probably chime in here pretty soon. Try a search of the attachments forum on sickle mowers and see what turns up. Good luck and have fun with it. 1
Pullstart 62,806 #5 Posted February 11, 2021 Here’s my monster mess of a creation Maxwell! In the end, I overspun it and it did some damage. I then found a very affordable 520XI with a deck, so I completed the field mowing chores with that for the season.
71_Bronco 1,072 #6 Posted February 13, 2021 (edited) I picked up this one to try to adapt to a WH at some point. It looks super rusty and crusty, but I injected some fresh grease into all the zero fittings, and it all spun / moved freely. Also, couldn't say no for the low price of $20 Edited February 13, 2021 by 71_Bronco
DennisThornton 4,769 #7 Posted February 13, 2021 Can't beat a sickle bar for overgrown grass and weeds! But they don't care much for last years On 2/11/2021 at 3:19 PM, Maxwell-8 said: I have this sickle mower. (It has a very special engine as it seems to have 2 shafts coming out it. Reaching under trees or just walking down a grown up trail as long as there are no hardened saplings.
Handy Don 12,163 #8 Posted February 13, 2021 (edited) My only memory of a sickle bar in use was watching our friendly neighbor farmer doing his hayfield on a Farmall with with a big side mounted bar. He hit a fallen tree branch near the edge of the field that broke some cutter teeth. I was maybe 10 and I learned some new words.
