squonk 41,983 #29 Posted February 11, 2021 Might not be a bad idea once the weather changes to take the genny off and clean the carbunkles out of it and check the brushes. They stick, get dirty and don't produce the oomph to turn the motor. Sometimes the genny itself will squeal as it struggles to turn.
jamessparks 55 #30 Posted February 20, 2021 @Ed Kennell or @oliver2-44 do you guys use. Permatex when putting the gaskets back on. I’m waiting for my new ones to deliver but was thinking I should...?
oliver2-44 10,098 #31 Posted February 20, 2021 For the valve spring cover I usually used new thicker Kohler gaskets with no sealer and have good success. Sometimes If I have what seems to be a thinner aftermarket gasket or reusing Gasket I use Coppercoat. Not sure it's better or worse that others, I just use it as it's always what my dad used on airplanes. My dad always used Coppercoat on airplanes and Permatex on the farm tractor and truck, so there all good.
Ed Kennell 39,863 #32 Posted February 20, 2021 I never use a sealer on the heads or the breather covers.
