RandyLittrell 3,884 #1 Posted February 6, 2021 (edited) Ok, my plumber pro's, got a question about running a new line for my condensation pump. My manual says 22' head height, so I understand that means I can go up that high before running back down at an angle into the drain. I only want to run up to about 8' and then I can angle back down on a slope to the drain. My understanding of the manual is that if I slope it back down to the drain, I don't need a check valve. Just need to go about 15' or so over to the drain. Does that sound right guys? Here is the manual. https://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.supplyhouse.com/product_files/IQP-120-Install.pdf I forgot to say this is for my central air and the line is at about 4' high now, just want to put it up out of the way to make room for some work I am doing in the basement. wallfish 17,017 #2 Posted February 6, 2021 A decent condensate pump will have a check valve built in.
WHX?? 48,834 #3 Posted February 6, 2021 You'll be fine. I install quite a few pumps. That's the fancy one. I use the little giants and work fine last a long time and half the cost.
Racinbob 11,100 #4 Posted February 6, 2021 I'm running up about 8' and it works great. Using a Little Giant like Jim mentioned.

Pullstart 62,922 #6 Posted February 7, 2021 That 1/2” line, when you run vertical then slope to drain, will generally siphon the leftovers out the tube when the pump shuts off too
squonk 41,164 #7 Posted February 7, 2021 I had to do an emergency repair on a steam condensate line one night at the hospital. Regular pump failed and I had to not only keep the steam process equipment running, but keep condensate out of a sterile area. I only needed it to last about 8 hrs. I had a Little Giant pump kicking around as backup to a server closet. So It got rigged up to pump steam condensate. It was rather comical. It was still pumping and the end of the day but if you looked at it you wouldn't be able to figure out what it used to be because it was so melted!
