Horse Newbie 7,075 #1 Posted February 6, 2021 (edited) So this morning I got a call from @oliver2-44 saying that he had been granted ownership of his early to mid 60's 953 and the current owner would be contacting me today to arrange for pick up... Well I had already been stirring about in my shop preparing to reinstall my hydraulic cylinder on my 1994 520H. The 520H was needing some bang juice so I headed down to the local store and got her 5 gallons of 89 octane non- ethanol gas. When I got back home I decided to go ahead and prepare my rig for the upcoming 953 acquisition. Hooked my home made 10 x 6 utility trailer up to my trusty 1998 Z-71 Silverado 1500, cleaned out the few leaves left in it, aired up the tires and checked the lights. Checked and loaded some tie-down straps... Right now we are staged and awaiting the call from the present owner... Meanwhile back to that 520H hydraulic cylinder... 953 nut 55,329 #3 Posted February 7, 2021 So glad you were able to help @oliver2-44 get the 953. Getting it from NC to TX will be a neat trick but it can be done. Members here are awesome when it comes to "Haulin Help". Several years back I had bought a 953 to be picked up at the Big Show, ended up having spinal fusion surgery just before the show. James @Jrblanke and Van @Wheel-N-It came to my rescue, they had never met me and didn't know me but they pitched in and hauled and stored it for me until I was back on my feet. Horse Newbie 7,075 #7 Posted February 7, 2021 (edited) Got the 953 back to my estate and started trying to figure out how to build a pallet under a tractor...I'm thinking that would be easier than taking it off the trailer. Horse Newbie 7,075 #9 Posted February 8, 2021 (edited) Actually before I started building the pallet, I drained the oil, removed the battery(battery may hold a charge)... not ! And drained as much fluid out of the rear tires as I could. BF Goodrich So far the hardest time I've had is getting the hand trucks and appliance trucks out of my tractor shed and putting them back. I've actually scratched my head a bit...but I believe I'll end up stacking the 2 rear tires underneath the back of the frame where trans. would be and sitting the tractor on that. Strapping the front axle down with plumbers strap, building a small wooden box for the small loose parts, and screwing it to the pallet, and may end up nylon strapping some of the bigger misc. parts... 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Yes sir it will...had rain here for the last 3 days so I have not been able to work on it. I have it on the pallet technically, but I found out from the new owner that Fastenal has a strict "3 strikes you're out" policy against any shipping requirement violations...one of which is the pallet cannot exceed 6 ft long. The front tires hung over 3 inches so I'm going to have to remove the front tires and set the spindles in 2 x 4 cradles. But like I said...been raining here for 3 days. You are a shiny example of the type of people that make RedSquare the wonderful forum it is. Ive shipped with Fastenal a couple of times but never got near the 6 ft limit, so that was a lesson for me. I just hate that it's being done during the season of rain and short days, or it may possibly be on it's way already.
