Ed Kennell 38,227 #1 Posted February 5, 2021 I bought this roller a few weeks ago to get the 42"sd deck. I needed a deck to replace one I had been patching for years for an old friend. The PO had replaced the engine at some point and never got it running. I removed all the wiring and jumped 12v to the coil and and then to the starter and it fired right up and sounded good. My son had seen some of the snow my 312 and 520 were able to move and indicated he wanted to replace his green tractor's blower with a plow. I told him I don't buy green, but I would give him a snow stacker. I had a spare long frame 48" blade So the 312 -8 roller became his snow stacker. I did a basic rewire w/o safety switches. Had 30vac from the flywheel, so added a charging system. Choke and throttle cables. Added reinforcement plate to the steering shaft bearing. The H/L shifter had to be lifted up slightly to be able to shift, so I installed a shim under the lever to keep it up a bit. Made an axle bracket/weight support. Installed a set of chains, but still need to fill the tires. 7

Retired Wrencher 5,465 #3 Posted February 6, 2021 Good job Ed. I am sure your son will enjoy it. I hate safety switches my self. I call it over kill on these new mowers.

Around 67 is when you realize you need a heated cab. Let's see, I'll be 90 then. I'll give him my 520 and he can plow my snow. 2 4

JohnD 145 #9 Posted February 7, 2021 So why is this thread called a stacker? What's a snow stacker? Maybe because the plow stacks the snow and doesn't throw it?

Ed Kennell 38,227 #11 Posted February 7, 2021 Took Marks snow stacker on it's test run today. It moves snow and will work OK on Marks long driveway. After using foot control machines with hyd. lift for years, pushing clutches, pulling lift levers and jammin gears is not for me. He may like it...after all he's the guy that bought an Audi with a 6 speed manual tranny. My two hydros kinda shunned the 8 speed. 3
