RandyLittrell 3,884 #1 Posted February 4, 2021 Along with the new pex and water heater ( @pullstart Aren't you proud of me?) I have closed in a door in the kitchen and built shelves in the doorway for some built in storage. My house a century old and therefore nothing is square or plumb, so you just have to make it close as you can! I put beadboard on the kitchen side of the doorway right over the trim so that left room for 8" shelves on the other side. I am going to put a short bakers rack on the kitchen side and build matching cabinets above. I have painted the beadboard inside and out and just have to caulk the shelves and paint them. 10

Pullstart 62,922 #3 Posted February 4, 2021 Water heater, sounds like angels singing! Nice work! It’s tough to do quality jobs when you’re following someone who measured by “I need a board ‘bout yay long” 1

It’s tough to do quality jobs when you’re following someone who measured by “I need a board ‘bout yay long” I'm sure it was much squarer when built, but the settling over the years makes the doorways a real pain!! When we got to the lumber yard my nephew stepped up to the counter and ask for some 2x4's. The guy behind the counter asked "How long do you want them?" I quickly piped up and said "We're building a house, we want them for a long time" Sorry, Kevin's statement just reminded me of that moment. Great work on the shelves Randy. Trina builds LOTS of stuff literally by eye. I WISH I could do that. She grew up into a family full of carpenters. Yay big. So big. Kinda big. A little bigger. 'Bout this much. If it don't fit, shave it. If it's too small add more boards til it do fit. 1

I have had one in the past but I haven't seen it since we remodeled the basement. It's particularly disconcerting to me because I used to keep it in the same tool kit as my left-handed crescent wrench, glass face framing hammer and a small bottle of dihydrogen monoxide which was exceptionally beneficial when exchanging water pumps on old VW beetle engines. 1

Maybe you plastered it to the wall? If you need, you can borrow my box of scribed lines. I don’t have a left handed crescent wrench, but I’ve got a metric one if you could make that work...

Metric crescent??? Eehhh... I don't think so sir I'm no good at counting to 10.

Great idea and all but why aim so low? That's probably worth more in the range of a nice original Senior or NOS 420 LSE
