310-8 exploded view of engine/parts list

Tractor gave me maybe 3 drips of oil from here after yesterdays heavy use.  Looks like it comes from under the blower cover so hoping to find an exploded view of the engine to understand what it might be.  Tiny bit of oil but dripped from LH frame rail right under the engine.  It’s new to me so not thrilled to see this but it is a used 33 year old machine lol.

If it is coming from there, i can only be two things: a crank seal or oil pan gasket

Looks like the engine is nice and clean which should make this easy to locate. There is a small hose that goes from the cover plate over your valves to the back of the air cleaner which could be the problem. ( part # 11 on page 12) Check the area just below the carburetor to see if the oil may be running down there. Crankshaft oil seals and oil pan or bearing plate gaskets hardly develop a leak.

Here is the parts manual for your engine.

Indeed, but can be the only two things from that area

Normally then, it would not be leaking from the blower cover.

He is gone have to inspect it, if it is really coming from the blower housing, as often is the lowest point and oil dripps off to that point.

Whoa  you guys are amazing!!

i crawled all around it today and its bone dry.  Even looked into the blower housing with a flashlight and between the fins I don’t really see anything. Strange. That said, the few drips I saw were after some long work for this engine after sitting for a few years. I think I will have to take off the blower housing and see what I see. Too clean otherwise.

Pics under blower housing and of carb/pump. Little dirt in that crack but I blew it out with air and its all dry. Strange. Maybe only leaks once its good and hot which would make me think gasket more than a seal but who knows
