meadowfield 2,570 #1 Posted February 1, 2021 I have had a boxed NOS snow cab for 4 years here in the UK. It’s says fits 300/400/500 - but no official Toro branding. Or any that I can see. I don’t want to unpack it all. Anyone recognise the brand/type from these pictures? 3
WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #2 Posted February 1, 2021 (edited) All the cabs were made by "The Original Cab Company" for TORO/WH and other manufacturers of L&G tractors, the biggest difference would be the mounts pads/brackets for other brands, the roof color may have changed from white to black for TORO O.E. https://www.originalcab.com/Hard-Top-Cab-Enclosure-For-Toro-300-400-500-Classic-Series-10280.html Edited February 1, 2021 by WVHillbilly520H

They do say cab colour is now black Also gives me an idea of value...

IDK about specific roof colors but most of the new 1s I have seen are black vs white.
JCM 9,130 #5 Posted February 1, 2021 Original Cab Co new is $ 1095.00 and is worth every dollar in the wind when blowing snow. A few options available for Extra $. 3

I bought an older version that came on a 418-C? years ago for my 520 doesn't have the rear kick out or door chute crank pockets, it has the "OCC" logo on the door, but the Berco soft cab I got for the eMax ($500) is of course bigger, roomier, lighter, with much more visibility, and way easier to install by oneself. WHX?? 48,797 #8 Posted February 1, 2021 How do you guys deal with the snow that sticks to the front? Just get out and wipe it off? Last snow the wind was terrible and I would have had to get out every five minutes. Fact so bad I had to switch tractors. @dclarke had a glass front with a wiper on the tractor I bought from him. 3

Have you tried Rain-X spray on the windows? My OCC one as about shot starting to yellow and get brittle but Rain-X did help the one time I used it, but in the end yes get out and wipe and go on, maybe a cheap 12V electric defroster might help? Now the new Berco cab started out sticking but as soon as the engine heat came in it ran right off , the clear vinyl on it is more pliable like a Jeep soft top. WHX?? 48,797 #10 Posted February 1, 2021 Will give that a try Jeff.... It was 50deg in the cab and melted on the outside, @Ed Kennell knows, but then when I shut it down to watch the missus hand shovel it refroze. 1

I know fuel increased a few scents, but..... I keep my horse in a dry warm stall and never shut her down till she's back in her warm stall. Ya need me to show ya the 520 heat houser one more time Jimmy?
lynnmor 7,302 #12 Posted February 1, 2021 If you need to find the model number, it is inside at the top of the left rear window. 1

Red-Bovine 309 #14 Posted February 5, 2021 I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the cab for our 520H. We have the foot control pedal for the hydrodrive. Does the cab fit okay around it? Planning on the glass windshield and wiper option and the roof mounted lights. I see "Original Cabs" is throwing in a heater for free. Not sure if the generator on our Honda motor will handle that electrical load probably won't use it. Red

It does but when installing watch where the reverse lever may hit the support just to the left of it. Keep the support tucked tight to the hood stand and the pedal to the far right. A pic here would speak a thousand words here I'll see what I can do. Definitely go with the glass front and wiper. Don't really have to have the electric wiper, the manual one would work fine for what little I have used it so far. I wouldn't go for their lights either .... better ones can be had for less. lynnmor 7,302 #16 Posted February 5, 2021 The advice above is good. I’ll add that a 300 watt heater is too much for your system.
Red-Bovine 309 #17 Posted February 5, 2021 (edited) Great info. I'll delete the light kit. Rich rarely goes out at night anyway. 25 amps for a heater is way too much for our stuff. I think they are giving them away because nobody wants them. Thanks, Red Edited February 5, 2021 by Red-Bovine
WHX?? 48,797 #18 Posted February 5, 2021 (edited) I'd take the heater they was to give it to me but yeah running it might get dicey. I generally get enough heat off the motor from a vented belt guard. How much snow you get down there Red? We got at least 7 maybe 8. Sry for running off with your thread her Meadow.... Red-Bovine 309 #19 Posted February 5, 2021 We only got a couple inches last night, but we have about 15+" on the ground right now. I was feeling sorry for Rich being out there last night to snow blow. I have been trying to convince him we need a cab for the Wheel Horse. We have relegated it to just snow blowing a couple years ago so we don't need to remove a cab or convert to mowing anymore. The Honda engine conversion has been great, too. When we get too old to take care of this place, we'll put it up for sale on the forum. We survived a bout with covid in December. At 71 I was a little scared, but it wasn't as bad as we feared. Still can't smell much yet. Here's a pic of the snow in the back yard. We should have the cab and accessories Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll post pictures of the install.
