HELP I Inherited my dads tractor help

Recommended Posts

Suzqnii

I inherited my Dads tractor.  It is the tractor i learned how to drive.  Beforehe died from mean stupid covid, he had had it restored.   Hiwever after using it for a few light storms here in the Berkshires, i noticed black spit coming from the casing where the pull thing is.

So, i need to know:

How do i fill oil..cant find it

Is this spit oil or transmission (3 speed)

Can i get an owners manual

Its been in my family at least since 1963 the year I was born.  I am pretty sure he didnt buy it new.

Serial No. 357526

Spec No. 27107D

Model No. 90 T

Any help is very much appreciated!

I love my little red tractor and wish to use it often.

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry for your loss.

Found a parts list for the engine but not a spec number listed as being used by Wheel Horse. A basic engine is usually a service replacement.

Can you post a few pictures of the tractor?

Sorry for the loss of your father. The tractor a 1958 or 1959 RJ based on the engine being a K-90. If your transmission is leaking you can fill it by removing the shift lever, just need a 7/16" wrench and an allen wrench.  Pictures of the tractor will be helpful.

Very sorry to hear about your loss.:(

The gang has you covered on filling the transmission.

As for the engine oil, there will be a square plug on the right hand side of the engine just behind the cylinder (thing with all the fins). Unscrew this plug, there will be a dip stick on the plug. Wipe the stick off and place the plug back in the hole (do not thread it in). If the oil level is on the marks the level is good. If not you can add 30wt oil to the engine through the dip stick hole. Add small amounts of oil and keep checking, it is not good to over fill the engine with oil.

:WRS: @Suzqnii sorry for loss.

This is the place to get your questions answered, the more information and pictures you might have, the easier it would be to answer those questions.  Please show us some :text-coolphotos: because as they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

:text-welcomewave: under terrible circumstances, but we will help our best to keep your father’s tractor running!  Those little RJ’s are tough buggers and it shouldn’t take much to keep it moving.
