A quick stop by....

Evening all.

Thanks y'all for asking after me last week, I thought I'd make a quick post with what I've been up to.

I've been filling in time between other things with a bit of tractor time.

Reckon I've got 25 hours on the backhoe and its still working! A few niggles to work out, but its holding up.

I finally got around to putting new rings in the Commando 8. It smoked as was down on power when I bought it (bought it unseen and untested) last winter.

Its was pretty cold out, so I ran it up and let it warm up, then rebuilt it while it was still warm so my hands didnt freeze. It seems successful so far, no smoke, and alot more power. New air filter is on order which will help too.

Now I'm going to be using it more I thought I had better upgrade the seat, life is too short to be uncomfortable. Nice high back, and very squashy :D

For reasons beyond my control I am having to cut down on the number of machines I own, need to get down to 3 machines, have 6 or 7 right now. I can get more money by parting them out, so I've torn down a few machines (no wheelhorses yet though). I have got a 1971 lawnranger on the chopping block, as well as 3 bog standard LTs.

So Ian, if you need any WH bits, I've got lots of bits of 312-8 (inc mowing deck) and lots of various bits.

The forks work great for shifting stuff. Pulled the hydro box out of this one....

And this afternoon, I loaded up 2 more pallets of wood. That loader is darn handy

Jim,

Welcome back. It looks like you have been busy, moving wood around, tractors around, etc. It's sad to hear you have to consolidate your herd. I know sometimes these things are out of our hands. :D

Good to see your alive and well Jim, and here was me thinking you had dug yourself into a hole with your backhoe :o

Speaking of your backhoe, good news that its holding together well :P

You have been busy, giving the Commando 8 a ring job :(

I should really bit the bullet and try re-ringing the engine in my Raider 10, unless you have and suitable engines up for grabs :o

Cheers for the offer of spares, your a gent :( Spares are always handy, maybe i can head down your way, see what ya got, and do a deal on what i need :(

Do you have any photos of the lawnranger and the LT's before you pull em apart?. Though i have to admit i dont what an LT looks like :D

Thanks Terry. Atleast I will be able to keep the 312 and the Commando. I think they are stuck with me for the time being :D

Ian, the rings arent too pricey, need gaskets and stuff too though. I got lucky, the bore was fine, as was the piston and internals.

I have a hard time getting my hands on second hand Kohler Ks.

I think its quite a trek for you down to me, if you need anything let me know and I'll dig it out for you if you are coming down this way. Got everything from engine parts to wheels.

I was just using LT as a generic term for the other stuff, 2 Rally ride ons (one fully working, the other needs new rings but otherwise is great), and a westwood gazelle (which is pretty much vandalised, used some bits off it, nice honda engine on it though)

No wonder I couldn't find the spare parts I needed for the 71 lawn ranger I just brought home. Jim took them across the pond :D Too bad shipping from the uK to here is so much Jim or I'd hit you up for a few pieces :P
