ClassicTractorProfessor 5,314 #1 Posted January 31, 2021 Used to wood burn a lot in my free time, but haven’t picked up a burning tool in several years. It’s been too cold and nasty to work on any projects outside lately, so I dug out my stuff and give it another go. Picked up some 97 cent plaques from WalMart to start back out on until I got the feel of things again. Once I did a few of those I moved on to some bigger and better pieces. Here are those first ones 6 4
WHX?? 48,821 #2 Posted January 31, 2021 Nice Prof. This is where @Achto shows some pics of his display signs.
ClassicTractorProfessor 5,314 #3 Posted January 31, 2021 I also picked up a couple of these poplar rounds at WalMart. I’m not a big Ford tractor guy, but Tasha loves her little N series I bought her, so making this one for her This one is out of basswood (also WalMart) and is one of the more meaningful and special projects. As many of you know from previous posts Rodger was one of my best friends and mentors in the antique tractor hobby, and I ended up with his old 51 M when he passed. So I made this tonight to display along with his tractor at shows 3

ClassicTractorProfessor 5,314 #5 Posted January 31, 2021 @oliver2-44 Yes he is one of my favorites too. Really like how he turned out, and he looks good perched up there on the shelf behind my two DCs and my L.

Racinbob 11,082 #10 Posted January 31, 2021 Cool stuff! We just got our grandson a wood burning kit. He seems to be getting in to it. I'll make sure he sees this thread,
Pullstart 62,902 #11 Posted January 31, 2021 Awesome artwork Bryce! Do you sketch anything before, or just get to work? I have a wood burner tip for my soldering iron, but have better skills with a pencil or a welder... 1

All of these with exception of the barn were patterns I printed off and then transferred to the wood with carbon transfer paper. The barn was the first one I did, Tasha drew it out with a pencil and I burned it. Here is before I burned the last one, along with the pattern I used for the M. The lettering I did with Microsoft Word, then traced it out onto the piece 1

I make these signs to put in front of my tractors when I am at a show. I try to make them look like the grill of the tractor that they belong to. My free hand ain't what it used to be, so I do some trace over myself. 2
wallfish 17,000 #14 Posted February 1, 2021 Nice work guys! BTW, the keyboard looks real! I see you guys actually practiced with it as wood burning instead of using them to burn ants and such as a kid. Or, almost setting the curtains on fire. My oldest brother got caught branding my other brother. Could you imagine the outrage today if they were marketed as a child's toy again?
ClassicTractorProfessor 5,314 #15 Posted February 1, 2021 @Achto Those look great. I really like how you make them in the shape of the tractor grille. I never would have thought of something like that, great work 2
ClassicTractorProfessor 5,314 #16 Posted February 13, 2022 Digging this one back out...with colder weather setting in here I've been doing a little more burning again this year. Making a set of Wheel Horse coasters for a good friend and fellow collector (and probably make another set for myself as well). Also started on this engine to hang with the rest of my tractor and engine related works in my home office 1
WHX?? 48,821 #17 Posted February 13, 2022 (edited) @Achto burned this for Cindy for xmas. Almost forgot about this one... My dad was a railroad man and he passed away last year. His handle was old number nine and every rough thing he did was claimed to be "just temporary " I made a rough pine box for his ashes and Dan scribed it. Mom's next to him was store bought and a bit more elegant. Edited February 13, 2022 by WHX?? 3
