It’s been too cold and nasty to work on any projects outside lately, so I dug out my stuff and give it another go. Picked up some 97 cent plaques from WalMart to start back out on until I got the feel of things again. Once I did a few of those I moved on to some bigger and better pieces. I’m not a big Ford tractor guy, but Tasha loves her little N series I bought her, so making this one for her This one is out of basswood (also WalMart) and is one of the more meaningful and special projects. As many of you know from previous posts Rodger was one of my best friends and mentors in the antique tractor hobby, and I ended up with his old 51 M when he passed. All of these with exception of the barn were patterns I printed off and then transferred to the wood with carbon transfer paper. The barn was the first one I did, Tasha drew it out with a pencil and I burned it. Here is before I burned the last one, along with the pattern I used for the M. I make these signs to put in front of my tractors when I am at a show. I try to make them look like the grill of the tractor that they belong to. I see you guys actually practiced with it as wood burning instead of using them to burn ants and such as a kid. Or, almost setting the curtains on fire. Making a set of Wheel Horse coasters for a good friend and fellow collector (and probably make another set for myself as well). His handle was old number nine and every rough thing he did was claimed to be "just temporary " I made a rough pine box for his ashes and Dan scribed it.
