Gregor 4,847 #1 Posted January 24, 2021 This is a push nut. Obviously. It is for round stock. Where can a guy find push nuts for square stock? They are used to hold coil assemblies on to the laminate section of a magneto assembly. I have looked at Grainger, McMaster Carr, Amazon. Nothing yet. ebinmaine 68,481 #2 Posted January 24, 2021 Not something I've ever had to look for. The only other place I could think of would be KL Jack.

Gregor 4,847 #5 Posted January 25, 2021 Can anyone think of another way to secure the coils onto the laminate?
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,104 #6 Posted January 25, 2021 A bead of urethane caulking around the end. I get it at Home Depot and use it up after as it has a short shelf life after opened. They have it in white gray and black. Garry
oliver2-44 9,875 #7 Posted January 25, 2021 Try a round push nut that will tightly fit the square stock.
Gregor 4,847 #8 Posted January 25, 2021 Thought about that, but I would sure hate for it to fail, and come lose inside the flywheel. I Might have to see what's available. Thanks

Thanks What I have done in the past a few times was to take the closest size one and removed or bent the 2,5,8,and 11 O'clock tabs. In that kind of application with no sideways force being applied it holds more than sufficiently. Just do one and then try to remove it. You will see how tough it is. Gregor 4,847 #15 Posted January 29, 2021 (edited) I ordered some 1/2" round push nuts from McMaster-Carr. I think they will work fine. Of course I had to order 100 of them, so if anyone needs some............ But you had better hurry, in 2 days I won't know where they are.
