JustinW.73 224 #1 Posted January 15, 2021 Wanted to convert my single stage blower to utilize a small motor to turn the chute instead of cranking. The video was before it was all finished and wired up. I also plan on building a cover to cover the motor and I need to find a better joint coupler as the one I have is very weak. peter lena 8,647 #11 Posted January 15, 2021 JUSTINW , got your singular picture, thanks, you will probably have to make up something that relates to the size fit of that coupling , also take the time to lubricate all related dry areas , like base of chute , slide , silicone grease on cable to hoop contact , mabey small plastic tubing as a slide point , with silicone spray , found that to be very durable and dramatically cuts down on drag , good idea , pete
Pullstart 62,922 #12 Posted January 15, 2021 Looks good! For video sharing, YouTube is hands down the best way to get a video on this site. It also saves space on RedSquare... win win!

My simplicity snow thrower came from the factory with electric chute which used aircraft type cable with a double wrap around the base. There were 3 bearings with a specially machined sleeve with a groove that the flange at the bottom of the chute fit into, the reduction gears no longer working have since removed the accessory. You should post the manufacture and part identification for others who would like to add or replace. Bearing is press fit, there is another piece not shown that fit in the center of the bearing and had a collar machined on the bottom to give some clearance and have 3/8: hole to accept the fastener. Jeff-C175 7,202 #19 Posted January 15, 2021 Great idea! I have some windsield wiper motors out of an old bus but somehow I don't think the back and forth motion would cut it... I wonder if the cable rubbing on that loop would eventually abrade it? Maybe a couple small pulleys if it does?

The DOT requires every vehicle to have a secure seat, those linear rails have bearings to move heavy loads and keep everything snug.
