My C120

I just picked this up from my father in law. Buddy and I got it running the next day. But can't seem to find out what year it is. As someone did a crappy paint job on it. I see no tags. Only on the kohler engine. I will be restoring it and using it. I need to find out what plow attachment I can get. And its missing the air cleaner cover. I'm new to the wheel horse tractors.

Given the fact that you have a C120 with what appears to be no holes for hood ornament you have a 1976 or 1977.

Absolutely wonderful tractor.

There are plows available for those that will cover the years of 1967 all the way to some into the 2000s. A long frame plow. It has two parallel frame pieces.

 

You've absolutely found the best possible resource for a Wheelhorse.

look on the small area between the lift handle and the engine for a tag on the tractor.  That’s where it should be, anyway.

Yeah, the paint job isn't great, but it runs and, as @ebinmaine said, there are a lot of members able to help you get that thing in as fine a shape as you choose--from a solid "no makeup" worker to a pristine "show case restoration".  

Wheel Horses love company, too, so where you have one more seem to congregate--you've been warned

Seriously though, there's nothing you're going to run up against that several of us haven't already tackled.

Parts availability for those is excellent. I have two from 1974 and I have my own stash of certain things.

I don't think it's an OEM seat, rather an MTD seat i think. I would wanne replace that because it's hard on your bud when riding over bumps.

You got a mowing deck for it? you do have the pulley for it up front.

It's possible that's the pan frame from the original seat that has had the upholstery and foam removed.

With an early 1976 Kohler serial number there is a good chance the tractor is a 1976 model also.

Welcome to the forum.

 

To run the mower deck on that tractors you will need a 'mule drive' which is a bracket and pair of pulleys that mount on the front of the tractor.  The drive belt runs forward off of the PTO, blends around the mule drive, then back to the drive pulley on the deck.  The mule drive is also the belt tensioner.

To head off any unnecessary wear or damage, change the engine and transmission oil immediately.  Also, get the air filter functioning correctly.

Yea I have plans to do all that. I'm in the process of looking for the air cleaner cover.

 

What oil goes in the motor 10w30? Andwhat gear oil 75w90 gear?

One of us should have an air cleaner if you can't find that one. 

 

Engine oil is 10w30 below 32. Straight 30 above. 

Something with a zinc for older engines preferred. I use Kinetix brand. There are a few available. 

 

Transmission oil is anything around 80w90 weight. Cheapest possible is fine. The gear drives in these are pretty tolerant.

Update for the day. Wheelhorseguy hooked me up with a plow. After 4 hrs of road time to get it. Got it unloaded and put on the tractor.
