I usually hit those kind of things with a lite coat of rusty primer but usually sticks out. I know some guys just let it rust out again. On an old bike I messed with a patina finish where I welded a piece in, I made a "paste" with salt and brushed it on let it sit for a day and I had instant rust!

Im pretty pleased with how its coming. Im waiting on the new bushing for the variable speed jackshaft. Then it will be on to the motor. 2

T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #65 Posted January 28, 2021 6-12 rears would be what it probably came out with. On the John Deeres, certain years (I can't remember what years), the type code indicated what type and size tires the tractor came out with.
Chris G 3,296 #66 Posted January 28, 2021 I do believe the 63 and 64s had the 6-12 rears and i know the 65s on had 23x8.50-12.

ACman 7,618 #68 Posted January 29, 2021 (edited) Awesome job on the patina restoration so far. I’m just gonna throw it out there have you thought about just using gorilla glue on the hood. My son used it to glue a plastic dash panel together on a side-by-side and it stayed together to my surprise after being beaten to death at the Sandune‘s. You’re going to love those OTR’s . I’m so glad my Kubota came with those rather than the industrial type R4’s . They’re more of a cross between a atv and Ag tire with a softer grippy rubber and flexible sidewall . Here’s a picture of my cousin 63 and his grandpa bought it brand new . Has one very old repaint but he owned a body shop so it looks good. Specially if you can get them to shut up tight and then when you sand the hood they’d probably hardly show . Some hydrogen Peroxide and a toothbrush maybe get all the dirt out. That’s just a thought that came mind as trick they use for Corian countertops to get those clean if they crack and have to glue them back together . WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #72 Posted January 31, 2021 Those Deestone 8" are fairly close looking pattern to the OTRs.

Cause i see they have them like the ones i used and like the regular ag pattern on the deestone tires.
Chris G 3,296 #74 Posted February 5, 2021 I got the hitch on, grips on and the new shifter ball. I used bicyle coke bottle grips. There 5 1/8 long, compared to the 4 in long normal grips. But for 15 buck compared to 50, ill take them. Now just to finish the motor and the hood. But theres 2 pics of a general idea of what it will look like when complete. 2
