BeninCT 451 #1 Posted January 9, 2021 Hi all, 46 year old married father of 2 (16/13) into boating, drumming and all things mechanical. I am a building contractor but started as a carpenter for 15 years so familiar with getting my hands dirty. Been lusting after a red tractor (not just any red) for a while now and one jumped out and bit me today on Craigslist. Very happy that I saw that ad because I am the proud owner of a 310-8 in very nice shape. Spent the day brining it home, cleaning it up, changed fuel line, added filter, flushed tank, new battery and it started on the 3rd turn :) !!!! Mower deck hums along like new- I cant believe it really and I paid $350 which I think it a complete steal for this thing. You tell me though? Transmission makes a bit of metallic sound but functions as it should so will post a thread in the right place to discuss. Anyone know what year it is (the tractor lol- we all know its dec 68th 2020) from the tag? Anyway very happy to have found this place and promise to share pics of course. Thanks for having me- Ben 1

BeninCT 451 #6 Posted January 9, 2021 I felt like I was headed for a good deal based on the Craig’s ad pics but had no idea how nice it would be in person or how nice it would clean up! Very happy to have it and to have found this place. Can’t believe its 32 years old.... seller said he got it from his daughter in laws father (dowry?!) and it was the last of his collection so I am guessing it was the best. Wish it had an hour meter... Anyway- going to find a new seat locally tomorrow and continue tinkering. Need a plow if anyone has one. Thanks!

I have a JD X320 that I have been mowing with and will have to see how this rates. Think I will just plow snow with it and keep it in my heated garage though. I think it weighs 50% more than the JD and at least 2x what my junk MTD tractor weighs. Great quality evident in everything esp the transaxle. Like 4x the size of all the new junk. AMC RULES 37,132 #8 Posted January 9, 2021 (edited) Appears to be a very well maintained tractor. Once detailed, that thing will be glowing like new. Edited January 10, 2021 by AMC RULES

I found some 18” pvc pipe and cut wheel covers for it and my son is drifting in the driveway with it like a maniac- they fit tight with the tires deflated and when inflated they are really tight. It’s actually amazingly fun haha! We swapped the pulley on the engine shaft for a 6” and the pulley on the transaxle for a 5” and the thing runs like 25 mph on a straightway. No brakes and the whole thing rattling like a coffee can of bolts makes it a trip back in time. Going to slow it down a bit but hope not to ruin the drift ability of it lol. ** nervous to post this here- not red and pretty far from what any tractor was ever meant for 2 2

There is an Other Brands section too. We have a (silent?) Rivalry with that "green brand" but others are more than welcome. BTW..... Ask @WHX24 what he thinks of the colors of my fleet..... 1

I will have to post a pic of my green and red fleet to dump fuel on the fire though. Maybe wait a bit as a new member before doing it tho Get some pointers from @whx24 before hand hopefully... Actually now that I think of it the drifter is a Murray wide body. Edited January 10, 2021 by BeninCT

The one on the left belongs to @OldWorkHorse. The other 4 is our current running herd. We have several others in process. Middle 2 are Trina's. Her bright red one is Pony. The other is Pigpen. The red white and blue one is Patriot Horse. The right side one is Cinnamon Horse. 1
KAA 1973 71 #21 Posted January 11, 2021 That's a score, and I thought I got a good deal. Your clutch pedal is back like mine was, you'll need to straighten the foot rest to get it vertical again. I may end up welding a reinforcement if I decide to repaint so it doesn't do it again.

I bent the footboard back today and it is a little flimsy but only because it was bent backwards somehow. Agree on a little welded rod on the bottom maybe. 3/8 roound bar or something maybe a little angle.
