Indeed

I Can't find brass save GL5, so GL3 will work too i guess, if there is clean oil in it, that is thick enough, that stuff will work just fine, it's built to handle a lot!

Easiest way is to remove the shifter. Gives you the biggest access. Add 1.5 quarts of your favorite 80W90 and drive!!!

Just shift it into neutral and remove the bolt that’s facing forward on the tractor. Right in front of the shifter?

Neutral. Yes.

That's a "dog point set screw". The dog point is what holds the shifter in place.

There will be a jamb nut. Remove the boot. Remove the dirt/crud/muck.

Loosen the jamb nut. Then back out the dog point screw.

Also, will a plow from a C series, also fit on the 857?

Absolutely. That's exactly what Trina runs.

Good!! I’m going to have a fleet of 8hp Kohlers!! Mowing and plowing!! I found the snowblower at a junkyard that the previous owner took it to....and I gave him a price on the snowblower...and per usual every junk owner thinks that they have a pile of gold!

$100.00!!!!!!!!! I laughed at them! It’s all there, and the auger spins. I’m not gonna run it on the 857! It’s just a unique piece.

Meh....

It's worth that if it actually WORKS.

But as a salvage piece with no proof. Woof..... That's plenty.

Yep. I offered him $50.  I know the man who runs the junkyard. So, it’s not a problem if he say “no”. Then I’ll leave the snowblower there till spring!!

@ebinmaine I took out the shifter, and added in the 80w-90... that was the easiest pour in I have had! It was all done in 10 minutes! All new boot! I have taken the metal gas tank out, a tiny bit of old gas in it. The gas tank is 90% rust free. I poured out the gas and poured in a cup of kerosene, that’s sitting in there. Oh, and I got to the mouse factory out of the key switch, until it got frozen (it was 26 today). The 857 is sitting outside covered up by a tarp, it would be in my garage, but my driveway is wierd when I have a trailer on and I have to go onto the lawn which is covered in snow and snow banks!.
