AHS 1,443 #1 Posted January 9, 2021 No pics.. as of yet! It’s covered in snow, flat tires, 50 ft from the truck.... I oughta go get it, right? And bring it inside!! Poor horse!! Sparky-(Admin) 21,347 #2 Posted January 9, 2021 Good luck with the deck! Sitting outside on the ground generally doesn’t do the deck any favors.

71_Bronco 1,072 #6 Posted January 10, 2021 Good luck, and a great price. I paid $250 for mine, with a 36" gear drive deck and a 42" plow. Did some work to it, and its a great little tractor. I did an 6-speed swap into mine just cause I found the perfect one at a great price. Here's a pic of how I got it: And after some new tires, stack, seat, belts, and fluids (before I did the 6-speed swap):

Chains are Army Surplus 6.00 x16 used on jeeps (cut down) very heavy and thick...
AHS 1,443 #12 Posted January 15, 2021 Excuse me, but it’s an 857. I saved it from the snow today! It rolled up the hill nicely, with all original “Wheelhorse” tires!! The deck was kinda rotted in the front, and patched up. The motor spun over by hand. I just can’t believe the hood, and how nice it is! (Patina and all!) 1967? Ain’t it? The last number stands for the year it was made? 2
ebinmaine 67,697 #13 Posted January 15, 2021 That's a beautiful machine waiting to happen. 857. 8, horsepower. 5, means 4 speed transmission. 7, 1967.
WHNJ701 4,165 #14 Posted January 15, 2021 (edited) Drain the trans and let's guess how much water is in it, I going with a 1 1/4 cups. Tractor looks nice shape Edited January 15, 2021 by jabelman 1
71_Bronco 1,072 #15 Posted January 15, 2021 Looks savable to me. Good job! I'd be mighty tempted too for $50, even though I already have too many projects...

I cannot wait to dig into it!! My plan is to get the mower up and going.... blades frozen on.. The deck even has the serial number on it!! I can’t believe how original it is!! I mean, $50... that was like a “no brainer!!” I mean it is only 54 years old... and ready to run again!! 😀👍

AHS 1,443 #24 Posted January 16, 2021 @ebinmaine No water! Even though the boot was ripped The milky covered oil in the pan was from the B80. Where’s the rear end fill on this 857? Right here on the rear? There wasn’t any under the seat.
ebinmaine 67,697 #25 Posted January 16, 2021 Easiest way is to remove the shifter. Gives you the biggest access. Add 1.5 quarts of your favorite 80W90 and drive!!!
