Achto 27,623 #2 Posted January 8, 2021 Having tri ribs on hard ground is like adding power steering to your tractor. With only a small rib touching the ground they steer very easily. rjg854 11,389 #6 Posted January 8, 2021 I have 5 other tractors, my uses for this one is mainly pulling a trailer around the yard, and running back and forth to the mailbox. The only one at this point in time that has tri ribs on the front and AGS in the back is her Pony tractor which is the bright red one. That particular tractor is the lightest in the fleet by a long shot. It's a short frame, three-speed, with an aluminum engine. Even though it's that light traction and steering is pretty good. I am going to be adding Colossus to the fleet when it's done. Hopefully in the next three or four months. That will have a much larger set of course but they will be tri rib in the front and AGS in the back. All four are already fluid filled with Rimguard. I didn't have very good luck with that particular style AG in snow without chains, even fluid filled and weighted, but now that's in have shelled out the green for the OTR LAWN TRAC R1, so far knock on a hood, 0 zero traction issues grass, red clay garden soil and snow W/O chains even the sleet/freezing rain mix we had a few weeks back. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

littleredrider 409 #17 Posted January 9, 2021 I have the 23 degree Firestones on my 520, and the tri ribs on the front. They are virtually worthless in the snow. Even with a heavy snow blower on the front, trying to steer is futile, it will just push. Both fronts and rears are filled, rears guessing close to 100lbs, and with wheel weights. Everywhere else they are awesome. The fronts don't dig in hardly at all, even with the steering reduction on mine, I can whip the wheel round pretty quick, and can barely see a mark in the yard, even wet ground. The rears are the same way. They don't leave any marks at all. But will push you thru any mud or soft ground. I've been out of 'horses for a bit, nor have been on here in over a year I think. But i have my garage up (finally!!) so soon will have a place to keep stuff and work on stuff again.
