TJ5208 1,824 #1 Posted January 8, 2021 how do you guys like the ags and tri ribed tires on your wheel horses pictures of tractors would be nice i like to see other peoples wheel horses i know they look rather awsome but performance wise how do you like them
Achto 27,622 #2 Posted January 8, 2021 Having tri ribs on hard ground is like adding power steering to your tractor. With only a small rib touching the ground they steer very easily. In soft ground they dig in and make steering control much easier.

rjg854 11,389 #4 Posted January 8, 2021 I just happen to like the looks of them on my 854, in warmer weather they are good, when the driveway is slick with ice and packed down snow they are about worthless trying to make it back up the hill of the driveway
TJ5208 1,824 #5 Posted January 8, 2021 okay have you ever filled the front tires but i would think it would be hard to steer i would thin am i correct or would it help to fill them
rjg854 11,389 #6 Posted January 8, 2021 I have 5 other tractors, my uses for this one is mainly pulling a trailer around the yard, and running back and forth to the mailbox. I've got a 1/4 mile driveway with a fairly steep hill for the first couple hundred feet.

ebinmaine 67,696 #9 Posted January 8, 2021 At our place right now Trina has two tractors and I have two. The only one at this point in time that has tri ribs on the front and AGS in the back is her Pony tractor which is the bright red one. That particular tractor is the lightest in the fleet by a long shot. It's a short frame, three-speed, with an aluminum engine. Even though it's that light traction and steering is pretty good. I am going to be adding Colossus to the fleet when it's done. Hopefully in the next three or four months. That will have a much larger set of course but they will be tri rib in the front and AGS in the back. All four are already fluid filled with Rimguard. Here's our lineup except for the one on the far left which belongs to @OldWorkHorse Steve. 3
OldWorkHorse 3,045 #10 Posted January 8, 2021 I love my AGs!..... in the summer.... I don't have loaded tires or any added weight besides myself and these are not good at all in snow so far. Even a few inches. Now that being said with a small ton of weight might be somewhat better or if you dnt plan to use in snow?

I didn't have very good luck with that particular style AG in snow without chains, even fluid filled and weighted, but now that's in have shelled out the green for the OTR LAWN TRAC R1, so far knock on a hood, 0 zero traction issues grass, red clay garden soil and snow W/O chains even the sleet/freezing rain mix we had a few weeks back.

littleredrider 409 #17 Posted January 9, 2021 I have the 23 degree Firestones on my 520, and the tri ribs on the front. They are virtually worthless in the snow. Even with a heavy snow blower on the front, trying to steer is futile, it will just push. Both fronts and rears are filled, rears guessing close to 100lbs, and with wheel weights. Everywhere else they are awesome. The fronts don't dig in hardly at all, even with the steering reduction on mine, I can whip the wheel round pretty quick, and can barely see a mark in the yard, even wet ground. The rears are the same way. They don't leave any marks at all. But will push you thru any mud or soft ground. I've been out of 'horses for a bit, nor have been on here in over a year I think. But i have my garage up (finally!!) so soon will have a place to keep stuff and work on stuff again. Right now it's 9 degrees outside...I can get pics of my setup later, need to check my phone...
