Jim Turner 42 #1 Posted January 3, 2021 What would it take to get a 36' or 42" conventional rear discharge deck (not cross shaft style) to fit on an 877 using a front Mule Drive? I am not a fan of those tiny pulleys and loud cross shaft decks. I know I will need to find a PTO that will fit on my K181. has anyone done this? It would make my 877 mower much more usable during the summer. I can also mount a 10HP deck to it if I can't find a proper PTO.
953 nut 55,099 #2 Posted January 4, 2021 I'm not positive, but think the 877 is a short frame and there might not be room enough for the newer style decks. @WHX24 has a lot of knowledge about the 1967 models, he may know for sure.

I could test that in a few days. His 877 should be more or less the same as my 855, and I have one of those decks handy. I also have a spare 327 shell, so I could just lay that on top of the 42" deck and figure out if there is even enough room.
squonk 41,038 #4 Posted January 4, 2021 You can put a mid tach-a-matic on a short frame. The big difference is the distance between hitches if you mount a front hitch with mule drive. The front tach a matic adapter made for the late 60's long frame tractors will not fit without drilling holes and some cutting of the adapter. The modern deck may fit between the wheels but I think the frt tires will hit the deck when turning.
Pullstart 62,803 #5 Posted January 4, 2021 Keep in mind too, the drive pulley on a ‘67 model is small. The deck is setup for the bell style PTO pulley. You’ll need to figure out a way to overdrive the deck, or it’ll spin at half or less speed.
