If you're looking for better steering on a snowplow tractor your best bet is to KEEP the tires you have and add front ROLLER CHAINS. I just did this to Trina's 867 and it makes a huge difference. I also added 40 lbs or so of weight to the front of the tractor. For mowing or non snow use tri-ribs are the way to go but for snow. Chains. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Can be had on fleabay for less than $20/ten ft roll. Also an extra master link. Your methodology is pretty much right. I took the valve stem OUT to have a squeezable tire. I just installed them on Trina's Pig Pen 867. Took me 2 tries because I had to shrink them once after installation. I used a ratchet strap to squeeze the tire enough to accomplish what I wanted. ebinmaine 67,717 #33 Posted January 4, 2021 @haydendavid380 No specific thread about the bracket but they're super easy. I adopted and adapted the idea from @pfrederi Paul. (Thanks for that, Paul.) The brackets are pieces of angle iron. Mine are 15" and you can go longer. I drilled the end hole then lined up and drilled the second set of holes. Trina (AKA The Paint Department) hit them with color and we installed them. The weight can be whatever you have laying around... 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

littleredrider 409 #35 Posted January 21, 2021 I have the tri ribs on my 520-8, and during the summer there great. But winter brings a new level of suck. Even with a the weight of the snow blower in the up position, it will just push, won't steer hardly at all. I've been wanting to do the chain since I had them, but never on my mind when at the store. I put the steering reduction on it, and with these tires, I can crank it around faster than if it had power steering. And it's effortless. They do look good tho!!! Mine wouldn't be for grass or snow, maybe a Brinly 10" plow, but for my CC126 K301(3rd lowest priduction) after I restore it, I have a CC86 K181 (5th lowest production) with the factory narrow rims but has high-speed trailer tires on it. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
