What’s this c-141 worth?

What’s this worth guys? Been painted, runs mint, brand new rear Carlisles, comes with cast wheel weights, and a rough plow. This is in New England.

Paint looks good some places, rough in others. Several different colors of red alone. 

Overall appears solid. 

 

Plow if rough, is worth $100 - $125. 

 

Tractor maybe $5 - $700??

he’s asking $750 firm, I figured the plow being worth $100-150 and $600-650 for the tractor with the new rear tires, cast wheel weights and rear hub caps made the $650 sound spot on.

 

going to check it out today and I’ll keep you all posted. In New England you don’t see many of these big block singles come up for sale

It's an eight-speed so that transmission is going to be really tough. That's a good positive.

 

It does bother me a little bit that there's so many colors of red because it shows that somebody was fixing things a little bit here and there and not even doing those things 100%.

 

Take a close look at the wiring harness and especially in the area of the ignition switch. Confirm all safety switches are not only in place but fully functional by testing them.

 

You'd have a really good rig there and something that is very repairable and maintainable with ease.

Don't always judge a horse by its color (or colors) None of my tractors are even close to purdy but they all  are more mechanically sound than most.  i don't like body work/painting. I would be more concerned with how it starts and runs than looks.

Good point on that carb linkage. 

 

See how your pricing is three or four hundred dollars less?

 

If I was to go looking for a specific model of tractor it would absolutely be worth me taking two days to drive down to Pennsylvania and back.

Down in your area you can get a very nice looking, very well running, well maintained machine for 300 to $500. Up here you can't even begin to touch a mostly rusted poopy pile that hasn't run in 12 years for that kind of money...

No money here. The coal industry is 50 percent down, gas guys are turning off. You can make a living, but that is about all. 

Now covid has taken a bunch of folks out of the system. 

And living on the far side of the state away from the politicians it is all about Harrisburg and east.

 It looks like your first tractor.  Getting a big block for your first might be worth a bit more. If it has a really good engine. IMHO the thing it really needs to be a worker is a good mower deck. If all you want it for is a snow blade and have to find a deck later, then also be aware you need a mule drive and a clutch.drive. For that price, the tractor should have a very good battery with no excuses.

 For that price, it should start from cold with no excuses. i just got a 16 big block that does just that.and it came with a good deck.   It should not smoke from blow by and that means just a bit of black smoke upon starting and none from oil consumption after. There should be no oily stuff around the head at all.

   Some people go nuts after the rear cast weights. With new rear tires, another above average feature. Sounds like the guy who had this tractor looked at it as a keeper. Flipper tractors have slime tires or tubes at the most.  If you want it to mow lawn, add 150-200 for a good deck

  Single K-series engines really want to run, and they can have some wear and still run well. unless he has proof of a recent rebuild, you just never can know everything.

  Not exactly knowing your area, it is a good deal if you really want or need a big block. I kicked myself for a few years not jumping fast enough on a K series 16 and just finally found a good one.----right after i bought two 14 HP black hoods.  So not a needs tractor, buy I can always sell one of the 14's back to the owner after the magic happens to it.

I don’t flip tractors, at least I haven’t yet, I usually only buy what I intend to keep. I have been looking for an 8 speed C-121 or c-141 and this one popped up and figured I would see if it’s in the right ball park pricing wise, if some scoops it up tomorrow before me I won’t be heart broken, some come some go. 
 

thanks for all the responses guys, I’m going to try to look at it after work tomorrow. It sounds like it’s by no means a screaming deal, but I have seen others show up for sale in my area for $1000-1200 so figured this was a good candidate. I’ll keep everyone posted!

It isn't a "hobby" for Trina and I... Yet. 

We're still at the stage where we work what we have but the addiction is real !!!!

 

Hair covered horses are a herd animal.

This one was three hundred. you see all kinds of crazy prices for small tractors. Average ask is 4oo for up to ten horsepower, usually a deck involved Not nearly as many 12, 14 and especially 16.  this tractor did not run, but it was hard to figure out with an undetectable battery cable that did not pass current well as well as weak connections at the ammeter.   So actually a no cost fix and had fun doing it. she pulls fuel through the factory pump and starts right up

 

 Price ranges this year are varying with the economy that is in a lot of flux.. I really do not care what  the market says these machines are worth, but what they are worth to me.. There are probably a lot of them around here  simply because any hardware store could sell them and close enough to the factory to just drive over and pick them up before Toro got involved

I paid $300 for my C175 Auto with 48" deck and plow back in '92.  I had to do a lot to get it where it is today, and the past few months I'm restoring it the second time.

 

There's a 175 on CL near here that hasn't run for years, stored in a rat infested shed, tires don't hold air, mower deck has bad spindles, and who knows what else at this point... It's an 8 speed.  The ask for that piece of junk is 500.  I offered 100 and he was insulted.  Go figure.
