Stuck Free Wheel Valve?

Recommended Posts

ZombieToro13

I have a Wheel Horse C-160  71-16KS02.

The Free Wheel Valve will not turn with a screwdriver.

I have sprayed PB blaster and tried a ratchet and socket with a flat head bit.  Still does turn.

I don’t want to break the valve stem.

So, any Tips or Tricks to turn this valve?

Some of those dang things can be unbelievably tight. In fact my worst one was also on my D160. I put up with it for quite a while until I had to remove the pump, and even then I had to get it in the bench vise and using a 14" pipe wrench was finally able to get that thing broke loose! Of course it was mangled so badly the slotted part was useless, so I ground/filed on it til I could slip a 3/8" nut over the end and brazed it on.... Obviously the dang thing has never again been even remotely stuck!!

Excuse my rudeness, I meant to give a big WELCOME to this bunch of horse nuts - If somebody on here cant get you out of a bind ............ well. it'll be pretty bad

Keep spraying it and trying to move it. Mine took over a week.

Like Pacer, I had to use a pipe wrench to break one loose.    I had to remove some tin to get to it...maybe the foot rest and seat pan.
