Horse Newbie 7,075 #26 Posted December 21, 2020 (edited) @WVHillbilly520H @Tractorhead So I picked up my 520H rims and hubcaps from the powder coat shop today... Rims...gloss white Hubcaps...shiney chrome What do you think ? I'm really pleased with the hub caps...$10 a piece. The shiney chrome is a powder coating...not true chrome plating. WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #28 Posted December 21, 2020 @Horse Newbie , I 100% love the "shiny chrome" if you can find out what brand powder they used I will see if my guy can get it... Make some LSE wheels or freshen up those muffler heat shields and Onan air cleaner lids... Thanks for sharing. If you need the brand China markers in used just shout.
Tractorhead 9,064 #29 Posted December 21, 2020 (edited) @Horse Newbie Whow, they looking great. beeing worth the price definitely. I’m still annoyed of the missed Schedule on my Rims. Wished they had finished them before, so no Trailride possible on Sylvester like i would do. Talked today with the young Boss and he told me he told his guy‘s to finish them, but they don‘t do so. WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #34 Posted December 21, 2020 Tim, go slow they "drip" a bit just keep a lent free wiper close by, you may have to do 2-3 coats over the shiny bling.

WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #42 Posted December 21, 2020 Should I paint the engraving on my custom made wheel weight covers? 2
Handy Don 12,247 #43 Posted December 21, 2020 I can see the impetus to add some color here! Given my less-than-amazing painting skills I'd go for filling the text if the adjoining metal was smooth and I could easily clean off any "outside the lines oopses" But with the brushed surface I'd have "runs" that I'd regret. Painting it all masks the spun metal look you might want to keep but it would let me (again, not the best painter) go back and contrast paint the lettering. 2
WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #44 Posted December 21, 2020 (edited) Yep, I "turned" them on a lathe before I engraved them on a ProtoTrak CNC mill. Edited December 21, 2020 by WVHillbilly520H

Total around $26, but shipping was $20 or so... can't believe the shipping is that much for 4 pens. I'm thinking about getting some oil based paint markers at OfficeMax...prolly be alright as long as they're oil based right ? Whadda ya think ?
Tractorhead 9,064 #50 Posted December 22, 2020 Maybe a rattlecan paint in your prefered Color sprayed little in the cap and a fine pinstripe brush works also. Should be onsite Materials.
